  108. Tery September 10, 2010 at 9:11 pm #

Note to John and Ravi: there is also

A Void (translated from the original French La Disparition (literally, “The Disappearance”) is a 300-page French lipogrammatic novel, written in 1969 by Georges Perec, entirely without using the letter e (except for the author’s name), following Oulipo constraints.

  109. Tery September 10, 2010 at 1:59 pm #

Murciélago (bat) is apparently the only Spanish word that has the five vowels. Twenty years ago I started collecting words with five vowels (as I came across them) and stopped at 100. Interesting that others pursue. Do you accept nonaquiscent or antiturquoise?

  110. John September 1, 2010 at 3:04 am #

Is that true about the novel written without the letter e? I just can’t imagine it.
