RMIT University’s Phred Petersen won the 2008 New Scientist Eureka Prize for Scientific Photography for photographing a toy rocket with a Schlieren lens, with stunning results.
You can read the article here.

Mr Peterson teaches his students in Scientific Photography the capability the Schlieren lens has by capturing everyday objects in action. Here is some footage he took of a match being struck.

The student work from this course is also quite stunning.

Your verse seems like an effort to draw more attention to yourself than to the science news. Will you give it a rest?

    Some jokes at the bottom
    May incite a curious visit
By those who like to laugh
    And so cause more hits
    On articles full of chaff
    Bits of useful knowledge
    For young and budding minds
    Or older, fuller ones
    That otherwise see only grind.

In this way I hope to contribute
    By luring inquisitive minds
So that they get the picture
    Of the wonders happening now
But if you want to ban Pourquois,
    Then that’s your privilege
    But I don’t understand
    Exactly how you figure.
