Simple Ways to Improve Your Healthy Brain Lifestyle

July 6, 2009 by mcole

  1. To reduce unhealthy stress levels, take up yoga, meditate, laugh, exercise, or care for a pet.
  2. The easiest way to challenge your brain is to choose a “word of the day” and then work the word into a conversation. Improving vocabulary is a great way to challenge your brain daily.
  3. Ten minutes of focusing on the positive and visualizing the future each day can change the way you look at life, opening your mind to new possibilities.
  4. Take advantage of your natural learning booster by believing something is important. If we try to learn without feeling interested, very little of that information will be saved in our memories. When we tell ourselves that what we’re learning is important, our brains join in, triggering our learning circuits.
  5. Try making a list of ten things you are thankful for – just doing this daily can make a big difference in your everyday attitude and help manage stress. There is a definite connection between healthy living and having a positive outlook on life.

Increasing your vocabulary also has a number of other advantages and the process is quite simple really!
• Make a list of words you are unfamiliar with on a daily basis. This is the easiest way you can increase your vocabulary. The next step is of course to begin using the word as soon as possible.
• Find games online or word quizzes. This can be done on a weekly basis also.
• Learning the roots of words is also helpful.
• Read whatever you can! There is no better way to pick up words.
Increasing your vocabulary not only revs up your brain, it also contributes to a more eloquent you. That translates into more jobs, promotions and social contacts!
