Omega-3 Prevents Type-1 Diabetes in Children:

Multiple studies have been published recently showing the power of omega-3 fatty acids to prevent Type 1 Diabetes in children. For example, one study out of Norway found that children with Type 1 Diabetes were far less likely to have received omega-3 supplements as infants than children that did not have Diabetes.

Fish Oil Prescribed After Heart Attacks in Europe, But Not U.S.

Currently the most e-mailed article on the New York Times Website is one about fish oil being used in Europe after heart attacks, but not in the United States:

Every patient in the cardiac care unit at the San Filippo Neri Hospital who survives a heart attack goes home with a prescription for purified fish oil, or omega-3 fatty acids.

“It is clearly recommended in international guidelines,” said Dr. Massimo Santini, the hospital’s chief of cardiology, who added that it would be considered tantamount to malpractice in Italy to omit the drug.

Fish Oil Improves Behavior of Children, Improves Concentration and Parent Bonding

Another study out of Durham suggests that fish oil can significantly "improve the behaviour of unruly children and help develop their concentration and bonding with their parents, research has revealed."

The dramatic results showed that while 47 per cent of the children in the study started with poor behaviour, by the end only 4 per cent had behaviour rated as "poor".
