A More Responsive and Sensitive Heart Pacemaker

Current microcircuitary based heart pacemakers are based on responding to the a threshold feedback signal that triggers a fixed electronic response to the cardiac muscle to stimulate the heart to beat and therefore contract.
My idea is to design a pacemaker with a chemical sensory probe that detects the relative levels of blood CO2 in the form of HCO2 as a more accurate means to enable (on a sliding scale) a more accurate variable electronic response to stimulate appropriate heart rates and subsequent oxygenation of blood.
NASA needs to branch out into this and similar areas to generate innovation.
