There was definitely an economic boom. Wasn't that the decade of the Babyboomer Yuppies? I just meant that for a lot of people that belong to Generation X, growing up in single parent homes, poor due to divorce and, a lot of times, absentee fathers, that time resembled a depression of sorts simply because of how expensive everything was and the materializm of the 80's.

And nowadays, staying at home and taking care of your family should be a right, but it isn't in a lot of cases simply because of how society is set up now. Corporations benefit from cheap labor.
