My husband and I are fighting with all we have to keep our 33 year old son from killing himself or hurting others by finding and paying for our of our pockets treatment for him. The VA will only pay for drugs that do nothing to make him loopy, maybe help him sleep occasionally. He can have one week of group therpy at the VA, which basically taught him to make candles. WHAT the H#$@! My son was fully functional nurse working in a major hospital, with a loving wife. Now the govt has him making candles, sitting around the house drugged up and his wife afraid of him. This is ridicoulous....we live 640 miles from him and are constantly making trips to keep tabs on him. Today my husband is going to go and see each of his "doctors" to discuss another avenue and we found another doctor that we are going to pay for treatment ourselves, that we think can help him. While govt is bailing out Wall Street, maybe they should bail out the Vets they turned into walking drugged out shells of their former selves!
