Resolution of the galaxy rotation problem by redshift in cosmic dust allows cosmology to proceed by Newtonian mechanics without the need for dark matter or Modified Newtonian Dynamics (MOND).

A New World of Fiber Sensors

November 17, 2009 by saeed rehman

Optical fiber is well-known for its ability to carry information at high speeds over long distances. Twenty years after the first transatlantic fiber optic cable was laid, these strands of ultrapure glass continue to offer unrivaled bandwidths. They have evolved a long way from the first low-loss fiber demonstrated in the late 1960s.

My husband Tom has black hair, dark brown eyes, and olive skin - he can get blackish brown when he gets tanned. His parents (or supposed parents) both have blue eyes - his dad Edward had white blonde hair as a child and his mom Mary had dirty blonde hair. Is this possible?? (I changed a couple of names to protect myself!)

November 13, 2009 by DuncanAzzopardi

This week I attended a meeting held by the Society for Genomics Policy and Public Health entitled ‘Genetics and Health Promotion’. It was extremely interesting and posed two very significant questions. How do scientists translate genetic research into effective therapeutics and how is this then effectively pitched to public health strategists?

I recently read an article in the latest Scientific American Mind magazine discussing the cell mechanisms underlying meditative states. The author briefly mentioned the fact that expert meditators were able to avoid the attentional blink that lay people are prone to experiencing when barraged with rapidly presented visual stimuli.
