Statement of Secretary Babbitt

I am, of course, gratified that the grand jury and Independent Counsel have determined after an exhaustive 18-month investigation that no charges are justified in this matter.

That is not surprising; as I have said from the beginning, all the employees of the Department of Interior who participated in the Hudson Casino decision acted with complete integrity.

I am grateful to Independent Counsel Bruce, her staff and the grand jury for conducting a thorough and professional investigation.
