COO, Administrative Services…”There seemed to be a lot of attention around Six Sigma at the conference. The results being reported are impressive. Maybe we should consider launching a Six Sigma initiative. What do you think?”

Director of Patient Care…”I’m all for getting a bigger return on our CQI (Continuous Quality Improvement) initiative, but I’m worried about the time commitment. Where will these full time Black Belts that Six Sigma relies on come from? We’re short staffed as it is!!”

As you can see, quality improvement has become a hot topic in the health care community. Master Black Belts and Black Belts leading the Six Sigma charge can attest that, the health care community is in dire need of a software revolution. Software in the healthcare community has always been under-utilized and under-appreciated. In the 21st century, it is time for the health care community to take a leap-forward and catch up with other industries in this respect.

As Six Sigma gains more footing, particularly in the area of continous quality improvement (CQI), it beehoves senior management to examine and invest in quality software that enhances the Six Sigma experience for quality improvement departments across the country.

As health care communities invest time and resources in increasing process synergies while evaluating existing work-flow, transactional entities, general operations and clinical outcomes…during the initial stage of (DMAIC)-Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control which is a data-driven quality strategy for improving processes, and is an integral part of the company’s Six Sigma Quality Initiative. This is where Microsoft Visio can enhance the Six Sigma experience.

Visio is a powerful diagramming software. Due to the complexity of healthcare, the ability to communicate projects in an efficient manner, has constantly plagued our industry. This where is the power of Visio is critical. Like PowerPoint, which provides powerful pictures; Visio provides complex org charts, diagrams, process maps and more.

    * Interpersonal;
    * Sociological;
    * Empirical;
    * Political.

    Our links pages cover each care (knowledge) domain e.g. Science:

    Perhaps many health and social care professionals do use diagrams – but like many people the constraints of the job restrict use to cognitive – aide memoire. This will have to change, for reasons not restricted to the health sector…
