Growing fish in a dish

When you think of muscle-disease research, you might not expect that same technology to be used in studies of fish-filet production.

David Mack is an investigator with Institute for Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine (ISCRM) at the University of Washington School of Medicine. His expertise is in muscle-wasting diseases such as muscular dystrophy, and some of his research involves the “disease in a dish” model to better understand how a condition responds to potential therapeutics.

He also is working with Clean Research, a company developing technology to grow seafood. Mack and Alain Rostain, CEO of Clean Research, explain the collaboration.
