A flowering home for turtles and fish,<\/p>\n

These mixed seagrass meadows harbour much life;<\/p>\n

Moving in currents with a gentle swish,<\/p>\n

Net global warming is less when they\u2019re rife.<\/p>\n

By burying carbon deep beneath<\/p>\n

The sediment, stacked high in metres thick.<\/p>\n

Excess carbon deposits it could sheath,<\/p>\n

But now they are dying at rates too quick.<\/p>\n

With one quarter of species under threat<\/p>\n

Could this potential saviour be caught out?<\/p>\n

As carbon credits quickly turn to debt,<\/p>\n

In policies Blue Carbon counts for nowt.<\/p>\n

The seagrass saves our coastline from the waves,<\/p>\n

But who’ll save the seagrass from our malaise?<\/p>\n
