With drips and bursts and streams from their blowholes<\/p>\n

Beluga whales blow bubbles in the sea;<\/p>\n

The air encases liquid as it roles<\/p>\n

Languidly from their choice of cavity,<\/p>\n

And even though the whales seem quite carefree<\/p>\n

The different bubble types reflect their mood,<\/p>\n

With drips and mouth rings playful as can be;<\/p>\n

When shocked a burst they will choose to exude,<\/p>\n

And bubbles stream through see-through sheets in multitude.<\/p>\n

This is a\u00a0Spenserian stanza<\/a>\u00a0about a recent study<\/a>, which investigated the bubble blowing of Beluga whales, and how the different types (fall into one of four source-shape combinations) were potentially a reflection of their mood.<\/p>\n
