There once were some pigs north of Java,<\/p>\n

Whose warts needed a balaclava.<\/p>\n

Whilst a new study found,<\/p>\n

That their numbers were down;<\/p>\n

Endangered without a palaver.<\/p>\n

This is a Limerick<\/a>, based on recent research<\/a> done by scientists at the VHL University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands, who carried out the first ecological study of the Bawean warty pig. This pig lives only on the island of Bawean, in the Java Sea, and the study found that there are probably less than 250 mature individuals left, meaning that they should be given an IUCN Red List status<\/a> of Endangered, at the very least.<\/p>\n
