This city is alive with music, magic and dance<\/p>\n

Underpinned with an industrial heart<\/p>\n

That beats with the vibrancy of scientific discovery.<\/p>\n

From the transit of Venus to the first railway station,<\/p>\n

Manchester has a place in the soul of our nation;<\/p>\n

With Turing\u2019s \u2018baby\u2019 computer and the first test-tube baby,<\/p>\n

This is a city of can do and not maybe.<\/p>\n

Continuing in this fine scientific tradition<\/p>\n

Manchester Science Festival has as its mission<\/p>\n

A desire to not just thrill and inform,<\/p>\n

But help bring about wider social reform.<\/p>\n

Exploring the rise of the robots<\/p>\n

And giving us access to dreams<\/p>\n

There\u2019s something for children, and adults, and teens;<\/p>\n

Come and climb through a spider\u2019s web made out of tape,<\/p>\n

Discover how Ada helped computing take shape.<\/p>\n

With experimental words, gaming, VR, and play<\/p>\n

Manchester is tomorrow\u2019s world, but today.<\/p>\n

This is a poem to celebrate the upcoming Manchester Science Festival<\/a>, which takes place in the city from Thursday 19th<\/sup> to Sunday 29th<\/sup> October 2017, and which features hundreds of different activities and events for audiences of all ages. Now in its 11th<\/sup> year, the Manchester Science Festival is produced by the\u00a0Museum of Science and Industry<\/a>, and it is the North of England\u2019s premier cultural celebration of all things related to science and innovation.<\/p>\n
