This is one of my favourites, a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shadowpoetry.com\/resources\/wip\/rispetto.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Heroic Rispetto<\/a>, inspired by the EGU 2018 Union Symposium on the <a href=\"https:\/\/meetingorganizer.copernicus.org\/EGU2018\/session\/29067\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cassini-Huygens Mission to Saturn<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Over a period of 13 years, Cassini successfully returned a huge amount of data that has since been used to enhance our understanding of Saturn and its system, including in-situ sampling of Saturn\u2019s upper atmosphere, and high-resolution imaging of Saturn, its rings, and several of its many moons.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/saturn.jpl.nasa.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cassini<\/a> was a collaboration between NASA, ESA, and the Italian Space Agency, and the two different phases of the Cassini mission were termed Equinox and Solstice, ending with a dramatic plunge into Saturn\u2019s atmosphere on September 15, 2017, with the spacecraft continuing to record and transmit data until the very end.<\/p>\n<p>An audio version of this poem can be <a href=\"https:\/\/macguffin.io\/sam-illingworth\/reading-rings-in-the-sky\/listen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">heard here<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>You voyaged in the trail of pioneers, To shed new light on Saturn and its rings; By imaging its many circling spheres, We glimpsed into<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":222,"featured_media":596,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"generate_page_header":"","jetpack_post_was_ever_published":false,"_jetpack_newsletter_access":"","_jetpack_dont_email_post_to_subs":false,"_jetpack_newsletter_tier_id":0,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[2,361,3,54],"class_list":["post-595","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-science-poems","tag-poetry","tag-saturn","tag-science","tag-space","generate-columns","tablet-grid-50","mobile-grid-100","grid-parent","grid-50","no-featured-image-padding","resize-featured-image"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v27.4 (Yoast SEO v27.4) -
