Scientists already considered the Chinese Flussdelfin Baiji become extinct. Surprisingly in the Jangtse now nevertheless again one was sighted.
In the past year a team of international scientists had searched systematically the upper run of the Jangtse for survivor copies of the Dolphin. Before the experts had the existence on less than 50 animals estimated, at the end however not one Baiji
to find can. Still in the 80’s-years hundreds of the Dolphin in the upper run of the Jangtse are to have lived. American and Chinese scientists had only announced few weeks ago that the Baiji had become extinct as one of the last kinds of Susswasser Dolphinn of the earth with highest probability.
The existence of the
rare Dolphinwas delimiters by over fishing and strong navigation. Also the strong contamination in of China longest river as well as the loud marine engines represent a threat for the sensitive animals. The nearly blind Baiji gets along in the cloudy Jangste water with acoustic signals. Despite the recent sifting the chances of survival for the kind are only small after expert opinions. Already in former times researchers had individual animals as not sufficiently for continued the species designated. A Baiji in the summer had been observed last 2005 by Fischer.
