Can hearing voices in your head be a good thing?

Psychologists have launched a study to find out why some people who hear voices in their head consider it a positive experience while others find it distressing.

The University of Manchester investigation – announced on World Hearing Voices Day (Thursday, 14th September) – comes after Dutch researchers found that many healthy members of the population there regularly hear voices.

Although hearing voices has traditionally been viewed as ‘abnormal’ and a symptom of mental illness, the Dutch findings suggest it is more widespread than previously thought, estimating that about 4% of the population could be affected.

Researcher Aylish Campbell said: “We know that many members of the general population hear voices but have never felt the need to access mental health services; some experts even claim that more people hear voices and don’t seek psychiatric help than those who do.

“In fact, many of those affected describe their voices as being a positive influence in their lives, comforting or inspiring them as they go about their daily business. We’re now keen to investigate why some people respond in this way while others are distressed and seek outside help.”

Although the voices heard by psychiatric patients and members of the general population seem to be of the same volume and frequency, the former group tend to interpret the voices as more distressing and negative.

The team believes that external factors such as a person’s life experiences and beliefs may be the key to these differences: for example, the presence of childhood trauma or negative beliefs about themselves could have an affect.

“If a person is struggling to overcome a trauma or views themselves as worthless or vulnerable, or other people as aggressive, they may be more likely to interpret their voices as harmful, hostile or powerful,” said Aylish.

“Conversely, a person who has had more positive life experiences and formed more healthy beliefs about themselves and other people might develop a more positive view of their voices.

“People being treated for hearing voices are usually given medication in an attempt to eliminate the problem. By investigating the factors influencing how voices are experienced we hope to contribute to the development of psychological therapies to help people better understand and cope with their voices.”

  1. This message is for Ali Y. I had the same thing, though I’ve heard a voice in my head off and on since I was a teenager, it was always positive, always. Then I moved into this one house and a few weeks later I heard tons of negative mean stuff. I heard words like you did… something like spooky and it had confidence too it. Sometimes I would hear it 40x a day over and over. I always ‘felt’ good and never knew why this was happening. I’m not on any meds at all. I’m really high functioning with a masters degree and husband is a Lt. Colonel in the miltary. I can tell you this for sure, you have to ignore it. Don’t fight it, and know that it’s not meant for you. It’s just there. I can also tell you that I lived there in that house for 4 years and it did wear me down a little. But when we moved, it stopped. Then I had the residual memory of it and I was almost conditioned by it so I had still had the words come to me. But about 3 years later now and it only happens maybe 3x per year. You have to move yourself out of it somehow. I swear there was something in that area where we lived or an electric/magnetic field nearby. We were living in Illinois near St. Louis.

    • Dear Candace. I often wonder if military family members are targeted because of a spouse or loved one is in the armed forces. I understand it is a military operation when it comes to artificial telepathy. I feel it is a military conditioning and is important as to how a target handles negativity. So it’s in my opinion it’s a testing process. So, stay altruistic and pass.

    • That sounds like good advice getting to the point candice in terms of dealing with the voices and anger in general. I’m not sure though if hearing voices has anything to do with where you are living though, as I’ve been hearing voices for about 10 years, and have moved house during that time, and hear voices in the new house too, and also when I’m out and about, even on a moving bus, so it wasn’t like there was some technology influencing it, especially as I was the only person on the bus at the time, although it is possible that certain things in the air where you are at the time, such as microwaves could cause them. It’s hard to know, but like I was saying, a RF bug detector detects microwaves and other waves, and can tell you if there is a problem in your area.

      • Hi Alice, I hope your doing well. I am glad to have you around me these days. I hope the prospect of the NSA doesn’t bother you much. I do not like to fight a lot with the agency about trivial issues. As always I am more than happy to shed some light.

        • Hi Tyler, good thanks, I hope you are well too. I haven’t been online lately, and may not be online again for a few days. I like peace also and it’s a pity when people try to cause trouble with those devices. It only backfires on them eventyually. Have you tried to do anything to test like get hold of a RF bug detector or shield?

          • Hi Alice. Those devices would basically be cell towers. Remember, it’s a lot like cell phone technology but in frequency the brain reacts to. So in reality it is a directed energy. I am still amazed that the NSA can decode brain patterns and get such an overwhelming amount of information. Infrastructure is already provided by cell technology utilizing the “frey effect”.

  2. Aparently, 1 in 6 people are the victims of workplace bullying. Here’s something I got off wikipedia about it:

“Workplace bullying, like childhood bullying, is the tendency of individuals or groups to use persistent aggressive or unreasonable behavior against a co-worker or subordinate. Workplace bullying can include such tactics as verbal, nonverbal, psychological, physical abuse and humiliation. This type of aggression is particularly difficult because, unlike the typical forms of school bullying, workplace bullies often operate within the established rules and policies of their organization and their society. Bullying in the workplace is in the majority of cases reported as having been perpetrated by management and takes a wide variety of forms. Bullying can be covert or overt.”

    • This usually leads to high turnover of staff (people leaving), poor performance by staff, people calling in sick and being sick, the article goes on to say. It is a pity that people don’t try to make the working environment more pleasant and positive, so that people can feel good in the place they spend the most time in, as this does improve productivity a lot, and saves money.

      • Work environment productivity can be negatively affected be leadership acting in denial. Some people feel more superior when they can badger someone and call it business. Whatever you call it, it is abuse.

  3. Finally! I thought it was unhealthy to be hearing these two voices. I don’t know if I subconsciously named them or not but I call them Apollo and Artemis. They’re almost the exact opposite but they fit as a whole.

    • Hi Ivan. You actually came to the right place. Are they mostly female voices that you hear? I would be interested to know. By the way did you know that most people have a general sense of duality. Alice and I have been talking about ARMY Synthetic Telepathy. It takes a long time to grasp the big picture as to why strange things are going on in regards to voices. I don’t think it to unhealthy to give them a name. Would like to hear your comments on this stuff.

    • Hi Ivan, I think it is unhealthy to hear any kind of voices, well that’s just my opinion. But I guess that depends on whether they are causing you a problem or not. :)
It sounds to me, tyler, that the voices he is hearing are a male and female voice, judging by the names he calls them.
Message to my nicer hacker: the other “hacker” has put that stuff in my posting box again. Could you delete it for me please?

      • Hi Alice. Only Ivan can realistically say if it is a male or female voice that he hears. To my understanding the female voice is easier to hear as it is more clear at lower volumes. What do you mean that someone is hacking your posts?

        • Hi Tyler, I guess so. I just thought it more likely he was talking about a male because he called it Apollo. I hear oth male and female voices. Nearly always of people I know. I meant that someone is changing my posts after I post them, putting in typos, and also filling up this box with text from my other posts right now, before I post.

          • Hey Alice. I must say that a long time ago when my V2k first started, it did sound like my friends and family. It was a test to see how insecure I would be if my friends and family were in on it too. I knew they weren’t, but now I welcome them to have the experience too. But only when I want them to.

  4. It isn’t all that difficult to create a shield for these waves. You do something like this: Glue alluminium foil to cardboard and put on the wall or walls where the signals are coming in (a good RF bug detector may tell you where). The shiny bit should be faced away from you. This tinfoil needs to be then earthed. An electronics shop probably would sell conductor clips to clip to the foil, wire and a prong to go into the earth part of a socket on the wall. The yellow/green prong in a plug for your country corresponds to the hole in the socket you want to connect to. In Ireland, it’s the top prong. You’ll need to earth each panel of cardboard you make. Make sure there are no gaps between your cardboard. It is best to cover areas you use a lot, like where your bed is or desk is. Be careful of where the waves are being reflected back to, like if you have the panels on 2 walls and not a window, that if a signal did then come in through the window, that it didn’t hit foil you put on the far wall and be deflected back to where you are in the room. You could be making things worse rather then better. Reflective paint, especially if the surface isn’t dead flat, is dodgy, as the beams may be reflected in many different directions. A perfectly flat surface is best.

    • Oh and remember you want your wire/lead, alegator clips and single prong earth plug all connected together in a line and all insulated on the outside, with no metal visible.

      • If someone is deliberately sending you these signals and you put up a mirror shield, then the signals will go back to them without them knowing lol.

        • It probably wouldn’t be wise to have tinfoil on two opposite walls that could keep reflecting signals back and forth off each other.

          • Saying all of that, I’m a bit afraid of using tinfoil. I mean you see what happens when you put tinfoil in the microwave, things litterally go mad with sparks in every direction.

      • It’s okay Jordan. There is so much to talk about. It is very important to understand how different people are when it comes to government activities. But for one thing Jordan, mind control and surveillance technologies are inherently sensitive. Hearing voices can make people very concerned about issues. Religion being influential is one of them. So feel free to say what is on your mind. No problem.

        • Thanks Tyler. Yes, there is a lot to talk about. When people have an interest in something such as science, they’ll talk about it more. It is a pity when others try to silence them, and try to prevent progress. They don’t want sick people to be helped or cured it seems.

      • I don’t think there is a limit on post count of any individual here on this site, as is normal on discussion boards. I have been on other sites where people have had way higher posts counts than I have and they weren’t banned for it. I wanted to help science with their research, that’s all. Are you here to help or to cause trouble? It sounds to me like you are used to being the centre of attention and see me as a threat. I haven’t tried to stop anyone from posting. I have actually asked people to post.

  5. It sounds to me like it would have to be someone in power, or in government who would enforce this. “You will be forced to get the mark of the beast. If you refuse the mark of the beast you will not be allowed to buy anything or sell anything.” – from another website on this. So, I suppose, don’t vote for males lol.

    • Hi Alice. Not sure having Artificial Telepathy constitutes any wrong doing. It would be the same as saying that a computer or anything modern would be considered wrong. The point of the matter is about how people abuse power when there is no oversight. If I am to be a part of these issues, then I should accept responsibility for what I do. We’ll talk more of what I think I should be responsible for.

      • Well, I don’t know. It just sounds like something similiar, when they talk about implants and stuff. But no, if you are the victim of artificial telepathy, then I don’t see that as wrong doing. Maybe it means people who willingly buy and buy into this kind of technology. But yes, it isn’t bad to buy a computer itself, it’s what you do with it. I’m not really sure though, as I don’t know exactly what technology they are talking about in the prophecies. Usually someone who buys a guy has some kind of badness in mind. Like i said before, there is a find line between attack and defence.

          • I think someone is editing my posts and putting in typos, because i usually read them before I hit submit. There is a hacker who is trying to prevent me from posting by putting in other texts in all my reply fields.

        • Sorry, I want to remove the word, “buy into” from my post, as it is ambiguous and I meant something different from what it sounds. Basically, I’m saying that if someone is using artificial telepathy equipment on you, then you aren’t at fault. They are. They have bought this equipment, so they most likely have bad intent in mind. A computer is more of a general purpose machine, so can be used for good or bad.

  6. “If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives his mark on his forehead or on his hand, he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of His indignation. He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name.” Revelation 14:9-11

  7. “Then the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who worked signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image. These two were cast alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone.” Revelation 19:20

These quotes come from the book of revelations at the back of the bible.

The beast is a man from what I gather…

  8. I wondered if this technology you mentioned had something to do with Biblical prophecy and the mark of the beast (who is the devil). It sounds like something like implants in some of the prophecies, or willingly receiving them:

“If anyone worships the beast and his image and receives his mark on the forehead or on the hand, he, too, will drink of the wine of God’s fury, which has been poured full strength into the cup of his wrath.” Revelation 14:9,10

Some people say that the technology itself is the beast, but in the revelation below, it seems like there is a man, who causes all to receive this mark. The word, to cause, is a bit vague though. Does that mean someone who forces you against your will, or merely the cause of the existance of this technology, like the inventor? It does seem that people can willingly receive the mark from the first revelation above.

“He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.” Revelation 13:16-17

Everyone who receives the mark will perish in hellfire

  9. Something pretty odd just happened. It concerns the technology Tyler talks about. There is no other way to explain it. I don’t want to discuss it here, but if you want to email Tyler, I’d like to talk to someone about this, as it’s quite criminal. I don’t think that if I went to the police they would believe me.

    • Tyler, I only wanted to talk about what you usually talk about here, but not here as I personally don’t want the public to know too much about this technology, as it seems that it has already been made and used on me by a member of the public. The more people who know about this, the more who will make it. I have physical evidence of what happened. I can put my email address here, you needn’t. Would that be safe? I was going to set up a new email address for this purpose only.

    • Hi Alice. Hope your okay. Been through a lot of things myself so I am usually not surprised. We’ll figure something out. And yes. It does seem rather criminal.

  10. I’m sixteen years old, I suffer from depression and recently I’ve been hearing voices in my head. I know it isn’t to do with my medication because these didn’t start until this last month where as I’ve been on the same drugs for nearly half a year now. The first time I heard them I thought death was speaking to me, he told me to kill myself and I went into a panic attack. The second time there were millions of them, all talking at once and I couldn’t tell what they were saying until a female voice spoke up and said only one word ‘DIE’. I know it may seem like I’m making this all up but I swear it’s true. Even when they aren’t talking, it’ like they are there all the time, just waiting to catch me offguard. They cause me to have panic attacks and start rocking back and forth and start crying uncontrollably. It’s beginning to terrify me. Perhaps someone can help me?

    • Hi, you may find it useful to read back over my posts on the last few pages. It may help you to give up sugar, junk food and to eat a more healthy balanced diet with vegetables. People who suffer from depression have a low seratonin level. I have posted a list of foods that increase seratonin in one of my posts, if you are still depressed.
I also posted some advice on dealing with the voices you hear. I think you should ignore any voices you hear, and not do anything they say. Occupy yourself with other things, and don’t think too much about these voices, or give them too much attention.

      • Also, it is possible that if you are nolonger suffering from depression, the anti-depressants have increased your seratonin or dopamine levels too much, causing the voices. It may take a number of months for them to make your dopamine go up to this level, which could be why you are only hearing them now. I’m not sure about this, just my opinion, so talk to your doctor about it before you do anything.

    • Hi Ali. I want you to know that I take you seriously. I am proud that you have the courage to reach to others. I want you to remember that you are not alone. There are thousands of us. I know that you are young and I don’t want you to worry a lot. Ali, I have been researching a technology called DARPA Silent Talk, or artificial telepathy, for almost a decade now. The reason I am proud of you is because most people do not admit the real situation. Here’s the thing, go online and type Artificial telepathy. You will find some information about microwave hearing as a means to replace the cell phone. My priority is for you to feel better real soon Ali.

      • That is very nice of you to say Tyler. Thank you.. The forum seems to come to a standstill again, so I’m heading off to look for a more active one. Do you know of any good forums?

        • Hi Alice. Hey, I was away for the weekend so I am checking a bunch of e-mail. I’ll read through them real quick and see what is going on. I have subscribed to various things. I’ll look through my mail and see if there is something you might like.

        • Hi Alice. We’ll get an e-mail address swap thing going and I can then forward you some of the stuff that comes in. I try not to sign up for to much stuff because my emails pile up quickly. I would rather spend time communicating than filtering information.

    • Hi Ali. I read your post again. You have Artificial telepathy symtoms. Hard to say for a fact that I am correct, but I am pretty sure.

  11. I NEED SOME INFORMATION FROM ALL OF YOU SUCH AS WERE YOU WERE WHEN YOU FIRST CAME IN CONTACT”STATE,CITY,COUNTRY”.HOW OLD YOU ARE AND HOW LONG YOU YOU HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM?DID YOU COME IN CONTACT WITH THESE VOICES”POAPLE”DURING THE USE OF DRUGS OR ALCOHOL?

    • Sure no problem. But first let’s chat. How much information are you going to give me before I give you mine. My information is sensitive.

    • Hi, I don’t like to give out much personal info about myself on discussion boards, but I’ll say the following. I’ve never taken illegal drugs, but have been eating a diet high in dopamine. It seems that dopamine causes the voices, because drugs called dopamine inhibitors are used to stop them. Illegal drugs like LSD cause your dopamine levels to go up rapidly.

    • It is interesting that you should ask this though, as I don’t live in America where CIA and co. are, but it was about the time I started hearing voices that I went on a holiday to America.

      • Hey Alice, Mine started after my visit to London. How interesting! I’ll tell you more about it later. I feel fortunate to know the reason for my V2k.

  12. i think I’ve said everything I wanted to say on mental health and diet, so feel free to start posting again :)

    • Hi Alice. On behalf of the mental health issues regarding voices, there has been multiple murders in my area of Yorba Linda, California. It turns out that an Iraq war veteran Itzcoaltl Ocampo went on a killing rampage, murdering transients. His Uncle said that Itzcoatl had been hearing voices since the military. Not to mention the congress woman who was shot by a lone gunman at a supermarket near a rally. He also said he heard voices. There is a reason that I talk about DARPA Silent Talk.

      • Yeah, we are a dangerous bunch VV I’d have to know the exact details of each individual case, to pass a jundement Some people drive you to murder though, can press your buttons so much, and if there is equipment that is causing that, then you have no free will.

        • Don’t take that the wrong way, I was just messing. I don’t agree with murder, but think that in certain situations it can’t be helped. I don’t think schizophrenics are any more physically violent than the average person. I’m sure statistics can show that. It is probably a person who is impulsive is most likely to commit murder. I think that what happens in these sniper cases is that the sniper has been bullied by a group of people and can no longer take it as it is making them mentally ill and suicidal, so it’s either shoot themself of the problem. Bullying, which happens just as much among adults as children, frequently makes the victim suicidal. If someone is intentionally making someone suicidal, then they are a murderer. I think sociopaths are the cause of most mental illnesses, that costs the tax payer billions each year. Who should be in prison? There really isn’t much difference between the psychopath and sociopath. It’s just that the psychopath is a bit less clever and ends up in prison for it.

  13. Having said all of that, I still use conventional medicine, but have issues with a lot of the psychiatric drugs I’ve tried because of their side effects. Conventional drugs aren’t preventative, like diet, but can be a good quick fix, and can quickly prevent an illness from getting worse. Diet should be looked at more for longer term solutions and cures, but can also show fairly quick solutions, but may not act in the area of symptoms as fast as drugs. Many call it complementary medicine, and I think it should be studied more alongside conventional medicine in such courses and practiced as it is a science.

    • When I said above I still use conventional medicine, I was referring to drugs for physical problems. I don’t take psychiatric drugs because most of the ones I tried didn’t work, the few that did, created side effects that were worse than the actual problem. You should read some of the side effects. Death is one. Some of the ones i took in the past made me a lot worse. I speak confidently about diet, because it did cure a mental illness I had. I’m drug free now. As I said already, some people do find benefits from psychiatric drugs, if they find one that suits them, but it may not work in the long run.

  14. If there’s any scientists out there that would need a hand with anything, contact me. I’m interested in other areas of science too.

  15. Regarding food versus supplements. From personal experience of trying out various supplements for whatever, I’ve never found supplements to make any difference, eg. vitamin supplements, especially the synthetic kind. Other people may have different experiences, and some of them may well work.

  16. It is good that sites like this allow lay people a chance to investigate medical conditions. The people who know best about these things, are the people who experience them. The internet also makes it a lot easier to do research than wading through text books. I know of another website that lets lay people solve scientific problems. Recently a lay person solved part of the puzzle in finding a cure for AIDs. I think a lot of cures are possible by altering the diet. I read today that nerve damage after accidents can be repaired by taking fish oils or fatty acids, something like that. It was in one of these blogs.

  17. Interesting how many people post on this particular subject. The more people open up and talk, the faster people start to feel better.

    • Yes, would you think that many people are reading this site? It would be good if there was a counter to know how many people are online.

  18. I found an article on what i’ve been saying. Here’s a snippet of it:
“Two amino acids, tyrosine and phenylalanine, are necessary building blocks for dopamine, found in high-protein foods. Avoiding these foods — including chicken, turkey, chocolate, cottage cheese and eggs — may help diminish your body’s natural dopamine levels. ” As well reducing your intake of foods that produce dopamine, you could increase foods that can lower dopamine levels. Here’s an excerpt from it:

    “ 1.How to Reduce Dopamine
    · 1
Eat a balance of carbohydrates and proteins. Carbohydrates can lower dopamine levels to induce a calmer state of mind. Protein-rich foods like lean meats and nonfat dairy products absorb amino acids that regulate dopamine production in the brain.
    · 2
Eat vitamin-rich green vegetables to release endorphins that counter-balance carbohydrates. “

Not definite how accurate any of that is. Maybe consult with a qualified nutritionalist or your doctor, if you want to make changes to your diet.
Illegal drugs, such as cannabis often cause schizophrenia.

    • Those two exerpts were taken from two different websites. This site is not letting me post links to those sites, so I posted the most relevant parts. If anyone has any questions about anything i’ve posted, or doesn’t agree, let me know. Improvements or cures probably wont happen overnight, if it’s taken a long while to get where you are right now. For example, It takes a number of days for sugar to go out of your system and to notice a difference. The cravings should lessen after about 4 days. For new people who only read the latest few posts, remember that you shouldn’t reduce your dopamine level too much or you will develop conditions such as diskinesia. This is a movement disorder that people on certain anti-psychotics often develop. It is probably possible to cure that too if you increase your dopamine level by a bit. I’ve been reading about the effects of drugs such as cocaine, LSD and canibis. Aparently, your chances of developing schizophrenia is very high, if you take these, especially if you start taking them as a teenager.

      • As I said above, your chances of developing schizophrenia is very high if you take illegal drugs. This is because these drugs increase dopamine levels rapidly. Illegal drugs have been shown to help conditions like MS. So possibly increasing your dopamine with diet could help MS.

        • Researchers caution that taking illegal drugs is dangerous, especially since there may be other harmful substances mixed in with the illegal drug.
Also, from what I’ve been reading it seems that drinking too much alcahol can cause a variety of medical conditions that affect movement. Centres of the brain control movement, and since drinking alcahol kills brain cells, then it would seem logical that it can cause some of the movement disorders.

          • The good news is that even adults can grow brain cells by eating brain foods. I was going to post another link to a website on this, but can’t, so I’ll just past a short exerpt:
“Much of a brain cell’s structure is made up of what are called “healthy fats”. The most important of these are the Omega-3 fatty acids. As your brain repairs itself and grows new neurons, it needs an abundant supply of Omega-3s from your diet.

The best sources of Omega-3 fats include cold-water fish such as salmon and albacore tuna. Other foods with Omega-3 are canola oil, soybeans, walnuts, wheatgerm, eggs, and flaxseed oil.

Recent studies have shown that Omega-3 vitamins can greatly improve memory and attention in some people.

          • Keep in mind that while I have posted parts of articles found on the web, that some of this is just my theories, so be careful what you do.

          • But taking brain foods doesn’t mean you can continue to drink acalchol. Because alcahol itself blocks your ability to absorb nutrients, so this wont work.

          • There are many different movement disorders. it seems that many of them could be cured from an increase in dopamine, and the intake of brain foods to grow brain cells in damaged parts of the brain that govern movement. It seems that this would also help with memory problems such as alzeimhers. Alcahol, and anti-psychotic drugs to be avoided if you have a movement disorder imo.

          • I’ve been reading an article called 50 Things That Kill Brain Cells
            It’s on a dotcom site called 4mind4life

          • While brain foods help grow new brain cells, antioxidant foods help in preventing brain cells from being killed or damaged. They help to combat cancers also. Ok, enough for today.

          • I’m not an expert on movement disorders, but I think most movement disorders have one or other or both of these symptoms: motor symptoms or balance symptoms. The motor symptoms are caused when the signals from the brain to the body aren’t working, the command to a part of the body isn’t getting through i.e. the neurotransmitters. I think an increase in dopamine should help this symptom, seems obvious. The balance symptoms are when the part of the brain that controls balance is damaged, the cerebellum. This could probably be helped with the fatty acid brain foods to grow back the brain cells.

          • By the way, I’m only talking here about neurological movement disorders that are caused when the brain isn’t working right. I’m not talking about when parts of the body are damaged, as in when you have nerve damage in the spine, causing paralysis. As I said earlier, I was reading an article on another science blog that talked about using fatty acids to grow back damaged spinal nerves.

          • In terms of the brain, I’ve only been looking at neurological movement disorders that only involve the malfunction of certain parts of the brain. I’ve been curious about what happens in the case of a stroke and other disorders though. Other parts of the brain are linked to specific parts of the body. Such that if you stimulated a particular part of the brain, this would automatically cause that associated part of the body to move, without any thinking involved. The neurotransmitters seem to be more involved with the thought that governs movement. Damage or over stimulation to these other parts of the brain mentioned in this post would probably lead to no movement or involuntary movements. These other areas of the brain seem to be an intermediary stepping stone in the process of movement, that comes after the neurotransmitters get fired. These parts seem to be damaged in the case of a stroke, but not in the case of the other main neurological movement disorders, but probably are to a degree in some of them. It would seem likely that these parts of the brain could be fixed too with brain food treatment. I’m not a medical person, so not sure how accurate this post is. It just seems logical from what I’ve read.

          • I think I’ve said this before, but incase this isn’t clear, neurotransmitters are dopamine and seratonin, and neurological movement disorders are where these brain chemicals/neurotransmitters are affected.

          • To the subject of cancer which some of you are probably curious about; it can probably be prevented with a healthy diet that include antioxidants, like tea and veg. But what if the cancer is already there?
Recent research is using genetically modified cells in your body to destroy cancer cells within your body. It worked when they tested it on someone and the whole tumor was destroyed quickly with little side effects. Those who are interested in this, may find more about it on the internet. I read about in one of Microsoft’s articles posted last year called “Cells that can kill leukaemia in 3 weeks developed.”

Scientists have also found that certain foods kill cancer. Some research that isn’t quite finished yet, has shown ginger to kill cancer cells, without harming nearby healthy cells. Curcumin
found in curry can stop the spread of cancer, but i’m not sure if this affects healthy cells.

          • Aparently 1 in 2 smokers die from a smoking related disease.
Vitamin D is shown to improve survival rates among lung cancer patients.

          • All of the body is made up cells, the muscles, the brain, the nerves. “Research from Queen Mary, University of London suggests that omega-3 fatty acids, which are found in fish oil, have the potential to protect nerves from injury and help them to regenerate.” Same applies to using this for other kinds of cells.

          • Just in case there was a confusion about my post 3 posts up, where I said, “These parts seem to be damaged in the case of a stroke…” when i said “these parts” i was referring to the other parts of the brain linked to specific parts of the body, and not the neurotransmitters.

          • Many of the movement disorders and other disorders are degenerative. Because drugs tend to mostly treat symptoms and not the underlying problem, while people get some temporary relief, they continue to get worse overtime. There has been cases where MS people can suddenly get better that are unexplained, so perhaps that was due to a change in their diet.

          • I think that these cases where someone suddenly gets better suddenly should be studied more closely. I’ve heard of people suddenly being cured of things like diabetes for no apparent reason. An investigation into their diet and lifestyle probably should be studied.

          • Ok, I’ll look at diabetes, which has been on the increase. It seems to me that it may be caused by eating too much sugar. Recent research suggested that it was caused by nerves. But since sugar and alcahol have been known to cause nerve problems from other research I read about, i say it is caused by sugar. Stress does tend to deplete the body of vitamin C though, so maybe vitamin C would help. It can probably be helped by sugar avoidance, good diet and brain foods to repair the problem.

“The research team injected capsaicin, (the active compound in chili peppers), into the pancreas in order to kill the pancreatic sensory neurons in lab mice that had Type one diabetes mellitus. The astonishing outcome was that the islets immediately began producing insulin at normal levels. In other words, it appeared that the subject mice had been cured of diabetes.”

Maybe eating chilli would help also.

          • By the way, I’m not a scientist and haven’t carried out any experiments. I’m just saying what seems likely here, and since we are just dealing with diet here, it can’t be much harm to try things like giving up sugar and eating certain foods like oily fish. Although if you are thinking of doing anything drastic and cutting out several foods, perhaps consult a nutritionalist, and a doctor if you are thinking about giving up any drugs. Sometimes it’s best to cut things out gradually and not a whole bunch of things at the same time, or this may be a shock to the system.

          • I’m not really sure about the chilli peppers though as they were intended to kill the pancreatic sensory neurons. Whether they do or not, i don’t know, and don’t know what effect that could have. Ok, I’m getting a bit tired of this, and derailing the board, so if anyone thinks I can help with something, ask for my email address :)

          • I wasn’t going to get into the area of infectious diseases, but I thought I’d touch on it briefly. I often think that some kind of spray should be available in putlic places, such as at bus stops or on the bus, because you never know who is going to sit near you, like the man with bad breath recently who clearly had no thought for anyone around him or the woman who sat in front of me yesterday, who clearly never washes her rear end, or the younger women who passed me yesterday at the busstop, who let off a stinko. It’s one thing when this happens at the busstop, but when you have to be stuck with them for longer, then it can become a safety factor and health hazard, especially in terms of distracting the driver. There should at least be some kind of gas mask.
