Can hearing voices in your head be a good thing?

Psychologists have launched a study to find out why some people who hear voices in their head consider it a positive experience while others find it distressing.

The University of Manchester investigation – announced on World Hearing Voices Day (Thursday, 14th September) – comes after Dutch researchers found that many healthy members of the population there regularly hear voices.

Although hearing voices has traditionally been viewed as ‘abnormal’ and a symptom of mental illness, the Dutch findings suggest it is more widespread than previously thought, estimating that about 4% of the population could be affected.

Researcher Aylish Campbell said: “We know that many members of the general population hear voices but have never felt the need to access mental health services; some experts even claim that more people hear voices and don’t seek psychiatric help than those who do.

“In fact, many of those affected describe their voices as being a positive influence in their lives, comforting or inspiring them as they go about their daily business. We’re now keen to investigate why some people respond in this way while others are distressed and seek outside help.”

Although the voices heard by psychiatric patients and members of the general population seem to be of the same volume and frequency, the former group tend to interpret the voices as more distressing and negative.

The team believes that external factors such as a person’s life experiences and beliefs may be the key to these differences: for example, the presence of childhood trauma or negative beliefs about themselves could have an affect.

“If a person is struggling to overcome a trauma or views themselves as worthless or vulnerable, or other people as aggressive, they may be more likely to interpret their voices as harmful, hostile or powerful,” said Aylish.

“Conversely, a person who has had more positive life experiences and formed more healthy beliefs about themselves and other people might develop a more positive view of their voices.

“People being treated for hearing voices are usually given medication in an attempt to eliminate the problem. By investigating the factors influencing how voices are experienced we hope to contribute to the development of psychological therapies to help people better understand and cope with their voices.”

    • Interesting you see the moon. If you look towards the West during sun down, you will see a bright star like object. Then look to the East and then you will notice another one. Later on go out side and line up the two bright “stars”, and you will see the red white and blue flashing star. Take a look at normal stars then look East. You will never miss it again. Inner city light pollution helps you locate them.

  1. If the technology exists to send voices to people’s minds, using a device at a distance, then it may be possible to prove that mind to mind telepathy is possible from this. I’m not sure about the physics of this, whether it is radio waves or what, but if it could be shown that a device that detects signals from the voice transmission device, detected the same signals from another human mind to another mind, then that may prove telepathy. This may not be possible though if the person is hearing things because they are being posessed internally at the time. Does this make sense? Maybe someone who knows a bit more about this and the physics might like to comment here.

    • Remember. The sooner more people know these things are going on, the faster these covert programs can be declassified. I look forward to artificial telepathy being more of an overt situation than a classified mind bending foul up. Education in these matters is key to promote social order.

      • You have a point, because keeping it classified arounses people’s suspicions more, although the more people who know about this technology, the more who will use it.

      • If this technology exists, I wonder if it would be possible for any of us to get hold of it. If Sony has the patent, maybe they’d have one. If you could get one, you could try it out with someone and let us know if it works. It would be good for the general public to know. Would you be able to tell us what exactly this device does?

      • This technology has been only invented in recent years, so there is probably other causes of the voices.

  2. Raymond Cochrane, a professor of psychology at the University of Birmingham, wrote, “Anything that may encourage people to accept the reality of delusional beliefs, and even attribute to these beliefs some mystical supernatural power, can only prolong the existence of these beliefs and make recovery from schizophrenia more protracted and more uncertain.”

Is he saying that a belief in God can cause schizophrenia? I believed in God for many years and didn’t develop it.

    • As i said on the previous page, I tend to believe in telepathy, because how else would a voice in my head be able to tell me the exact time, without me knowing it. So that may not be delusional.

      • I hope that you are more at ease knowing about synthetic telepathy verses not knowing the possible source of these “voices”. Meanwhile I push hard to disclose these issues in hopes of promoting positive mental health while declassifying these technologies.

        • Good, thanks. Yes, I prefer to know what exactly is going on, to help find the cause in the hope of also promoting positive mental health. It seems that nowadays, most every one I meet hears voices, and something needs to be done about it. To find the cause or causes, everything needs to be looked at, and not avoid areas outside your field such as psychiatry. Unfortunately, many psychiatrists want to keep things the way they are for fear of their profession nolonger being there.

    • IT IS IMPROPER FOR A PSYCHOLOGIST TO NOT ADMIT THE KNOWLEDGE OF ARTIFICIAL TELEPATHY. ALL PSYCHOLOGIST STUDYING THIS SITE SHOULD BE AWARE OF THEIR OWN ABUSE AND DAMAGE TO THEIR PATIENTS IF THEY ADMINISTER NEEDLESS DRUGS. TO SIMPLY MEDICATE THESE PATIENTS IS WRONG AND THEREFORE SHOULD BE CONSIDERED CRIMINAL. PSYCHOLOGISTS SHOULD ALSO BE AWARE THAT I WOULD WANT TO PROSECUTE THOSE WHO KNOW THEY ARE MEDICATING PERFECTLY HEALTHY INDIVIDUALS. DO NOT DO IT! ADHERE TO YOUR OATH TO NOT DO HARM. PERIOD.

      • Good point. Do you mean psychiatrists, rather than psychologiests? as it is psychiatrists who give the drugs.

      • Unfortunately psychiatry doesn’t try to cure, or to look at the cause, they only treat synptoms. Many of the drugs have harmful side effects that can be worse than the actual problem you are using them for, so you end up taking more and more other drugs to deal with these side effects, many people ending up a lot worse than there were to begin with.

      • It is important to note that if you want to give up your drugs, you should discuss that with your doctor, as a sudden withdrawal of 1 or more drugs can be dangerous. Certain drugs need gradual withdrawal, especially if you are taking many. If people are getting help from their drugs, I wouldn’t suggest stopping taking them, especially if there is no alternative solution right now. Many people have found their drugs to have been of no use though, and none of them really cure the problem or get the the root of it.

    • What else besides that do you hear? Did you know that we are in an epidemic of voice hearers. Thousands and thousands more than ever, all around the world.

      • I wonder if the internet has anything to do with that. Do you ever feel that people are silently stalking you behind the scenes on the internet? watching what you type and what you submit into the internet? When you see signs of this, it would make anyone feel more paranoid, if that’s the word.

        • It could be the case that a number of different things can cause you to hear voices. Such as the practice of occult, the non-practice of the 10 commandments, the internet, technology, etc. Some say that independent thinking can cause it, or maybe being creative. Art seems to have its down side and seems to be another pleasure seeking activity like drink or drugs. I’m not sure about this though, but it may be possible to stop the voices using a number of different means also, eg. to stop using ouija boards and generally have a better lifestyle. An addiction can become too hard to give up though. Maybe hypnosis would help there or prayer. Just one more thing regarding art, different colours you use or have around you in the room can make you feel differently and some have a negative effect. Also, If you have too much of a certain colour, it could make you imbalanced.

        • I feel this way because I know that the CIA does do profiling based on the internet database information. Sad but true. Wish it was paranoia. This is an activity openly admitted by the CIA. People need to wake up. First off, I do not like denial in our government directed towards society and I will not tolerate it. Games are for people who lack the understanding of what truth is for. I often feel that we need leadership that is chosen to push truth, not avoid it. Government overall is in too much denial for me to believe that what they are doing is the right thing. Denial is for the weak, feeble minded cowards who cannot handle real problems. I want to clean house using surveillance. Get them out NOW!

          • Unfortunately, most people are just in their jobs for themselves and wont do anything that will make them uncomfortable. We need proper leaders who will take charge of this problem, and not be afraid of taboos and being thought of as mad for investigating what may be behind the voices.

          • Thank you Alice In Wonderland! Blasphemy is not just a religious analogy. It pertains to many situations. Hypothetically, anyone with extra ordinary power runs the risk of ruining the trust of majority. All it takes is something different and you become suddenly mistaken. Admit truth for false prophets be damned.

          • You’re welcome. I guess they run the risk of their credibility being questioned and maybe losing their job. I know that psychiatrists can’t continue to practice if they have a mental illness. Maybe they or the government could have someone else do the investigating for them silently, and if it can be proven that the voices aren’t a product of people’s own minds, by experiments, then there shouldn’t be a problem with them then going public about it, because they have the evidence. I don’t really think in this day and age they would come under attack. It hasn’t happened on this board.

  3. Not only do I hear voices in my mind, but I also see images or like short video clips. I’m not sure where these come from. Am I actually seeing something that is happening, or will happen or what someone is thinking about and they think of me at the same time, so I pick up an image from their head. Does anyone else experience images like this? I have also seen some other beings this way, such as angels and demons, goblins, vampires etc. I’ve seen ghosts with my eyes open too. These are all occult phenomena…

  4. What about Hearing multiple voices so many you cant even hear them clearly. They come on like a storm when it is quiet and have for a long time. never been able to hear them, there are just too many. Could they just be memories bubbling to the surface. Would like a couple responses. Thank you And G B.

    • I’m not sure as I don’t hear multiple voices, but I imagine that would be when your 3rd eye is even more opened.

    • I know what you mean, in my case it happens when I try to oppress thoughts from comming out, then I get tired and everything storms out in a bulk… I think though that in this case those are my thoughts and not something that someone else “sends” to me…

  5. I’ve asked questions over the years to priests and nuns, and they get very upset by them (at least the ones I’ve asked). As far as going to hell, hell is only what you believe it is. What if the entity we know as God is really Satan in disguise? He makes us believe that we must worship him and follow such strict rules, or he will just come and destroy the Earth, and only his followers will go with him. I feel like I’m somewhat of an outcast due to my beliefs, I’ve been called “abnormal” when I did nothing wrong. If I do my best to care for others and treat them the way I would like to be treated, I just don’t believe I will suffer for eternity. I just compare God to Hitler because (according to what I am told), you will be destroyed if you don’t do what he says. I just mean that I don’t want to be in a dictatorship, I’d rather suffer for my beliefs. But really, I don’t believe that happens. There is a lot of hypocrisy in this world. Soldiers go to war, blindly obeying orders, fighting for what seems a noble cause, yet often they are just a means to an end for the government to get what they want. I was always a big skeptic when it came to people saying that we can trust those in power. Even large businesses that do wonderful things for people and communities, such as hospital systems, have a dark and corrupt side to them. I used to think that the laws protect you, but they don’t protect like money and power. Big corporations were compared to the diagnostic criteria for sociopaths in a documentary called “The Corporation”. There are many things that can be done to monitor someone’s every move, so I don’t find it so far-fetched that the government plants ideas in people’s heads. I tend to think it’s more thru propaganda, though. I’m interested more in spirituality and acceptance than labeling and religion. I don’t think going to church and practicing what you believe to be right is bad, but I don’t think that it makes someone an expert on good vs bad, right vs wrong, etc. Look at the world today: smartphones, computers, everything is all connected. It’s very convenient, but also very scary. I’m glad to have a forum like this site to talk about things with people of different beliefs without it turning into personal attacks. It’s refreshing.

    • Well, I care what happens. And so I do. Not always fun. But I am afraid artificial telepathy through government would scare you needlessly.

    • I agree with what you are saying, and you sound good to me. And athiests are often more good than believers. I think these commandments are there to help you and others though, and the first one is to prevent you maybe from becoming too egotistical, as this isn’t good for you. It can affect you in the negative in a number of ways. I wouldn’t imagine God would be that harsh, as to put you into hell for breaking the first commandment. You may go into purgatory for a while. My understand and learning was that it wasn’t commandments, such as the first that put you into hell, but the more serious ones, such as the mortal sins – thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not commit adultery. I don’t find the commandments all that strict and difficult to follow. Much as you would like hell to be nice, hell has been described in the bible and by visionaries as a place of eternal pain and suffering for those who go there. Well just in case this is true, it would be in your interests to give it the benefit of the doubt, or you may end up there. Those people you talk about, corrupt businesspeople and politicians, will probably go to hell. You don’t want to meet them there too do you? The laws aren’t perfect, but they do protect. and act as a deterrant to a good degree. A lot of people don’t fancy going to jail, so they don’t steal, kill etc. although they do other things they can get away with that aren’t covered by law, but would be covered by the laws of God. Some people think that because it is war, or love or business, it is ok to do wrong, and to use people like objects, but this is still breaking the commandments. I tend not to think that it is the CIA or government that plants thoughts into people’s heads. Because if you think about it, according to the study mentioned at the top of this website, about 10% of the population hear voices. That is 10% of the world’s population. How many people is that? millions. Do you think the CIA, the size it is, would have the ability, or time to have a go at so many people? Why would they be bothered? I think the 10 commandments are a good model of right versus wrong, if you know them well enough and in depth. You can find the more detailed version on the internet. Yes, me too :) It’s a pity when people try to stir up trouble on a website. Unfortunatly though, some people take an opinion personally, and will attack you, when you didn’t intend to provoke them, just espressing your views.

  6. Okay so my bestfriend tells me he hears voices in his head like when he is pissed off he says the voices are laughing constantly like a crazy laugh..

Okay well he recently told me that a while back him and a few of his friends were drinking and everything and a song came on and it reminded him of stuff and well he blacked out and he also wanted to fight everyone but he had tears running down his face and a crazy smile on his face..

He said it seems only when he is extremly pissed or so…

Could something serious be wrong with him???

    • Maybe he always hears something but he only talks about it once in while. Or when he lets his guard down. Most people rarely talk openly about these issues. I feel once they have had a chance to meet someone who also may have artificial telepathy symptoms, they are a little less angry. There are a few questiones that you can ask them to find out if he is going through NSA silent talk. It could change their attitude quite a bit. You are are a good friend. Tell and ask him. See what happens. There are thousands of us who can help.

      • Thank you this helps me out alot, and yes i try to be a good friend I care for him alot, he says that it’d off in on and in my own opinion he tends to let his guard down alot he tends to be negative sometimes its like he has no positive saying sometimes.

What type of questions, he tends to ask himself if he has a mental illness beacuse of it and i’m not sure how to reply to it , but i try as much as i can.

But he does tell me he needs me in his life etc…but i help it go away or something like that could that mean anything?

        • You are most welcome. This kind of stuff can make most anyone unhappy. Men tend to be more “angry like”, when they are feeling depressed about something. Explaining ones governments activity is an essential part of Democracy and goodwill towards men. Really hope the info helps.

        • Negativity can be like an addiction. He needs to try to not dwell in the negative, and switch that over to finding something positive to think about, until that becomes the habbit. Hhe wont feel good if he’s thinking about anything negative or being angry over anything.

          • I read somewhere that if you think negatively, the voices in your head will be negative, and positive if you think positively. I don’t know how true that is, but I don’t think that hearing voices in your head is a good thing, even if they are positive. It’s still a sign that there is something wrong. Is this website actually conducting the research for the psychologists, or is it not linked?

    • You said it’s only when he’s pissed. It could be the alcahol that aggravates them. I’ve heard that addictions and substance abuse, such as drink, drugs, caffeine, suger etc. or non material addictions can make them worse.

    • I believe that the problem lies with those who send your friend the messages of disapproval and laughter, they are SOBs. The sooner your friend realizes that and learns to ignore them in despise, as they’re not worthy of any value, the sooner they’ll leave him alone to his private thoughts and internal world… Tell your friend to write down those experiences as they occur (have a small notebook with him at all times), or talk explicitly about his experience as it occurs to a trusted friend. It helps get rid of them…

  7. @Dubya,

Question: I was raised as a Catholic and many things don’t make sense to me about religion. 1. If God really intended for the world to be so wonderful, why did he put the tree in paradise anyway? People learn not to do wrong thru experience, and if Adam and Eve were human and curious, and God made them that way, they didn’t kno any better. He knew he gave them free will and no experience of consequences, so why did he set them up for failure? The first thing they do against his word, and he takes away everything? Pretty interesting that it was the tree of “knowledge”. 2. God sounds like a dictator worse than Hitler. The definition of sin is doing what God says is wrong. If the Devil was sent to eternal damnation simply for questioning his ways, it seems that God only wanted “people” around who would blindly follow him. 3. Adam and Eve had Cain and Able, correct? Where did a woman come from for them to reproduce? They must have had sex with their mother. I guess that means we’re all a product of incest. 4. If we’re born with original sin and we go to hell without being baptised, what happens to the babies that die when they are only 2 days old, what happens to the babies who are dumped in trash cans and abandoned. Are they in hell too? 5. If God is so big and bad, why did he not come down himself and get nailed to the cross, why put it on his son to do the “dirty work”. He’s God, if he wants people to go somewhere in the afterlife, he can make it so, yet supposedly he made a life to come to earth, preach, and be nailed to a cross. 6. People say that we don’t have to have proof, it’s all about faith, and if u don’t believe in God, you’re going to hell. I think I’d rather go to hell, personally, because who’s to say the Bible and all of it is not just stories passed down to keep people in line and act a certain way. If religion is so great, why have more wars happened because of religion than anything else. It’s a divider, not a uniter. So, simply because people go to church and practice certain rituals doesn’t make them any better or worse than other people who practice different rituals. My personal belief is that you should treat people how you would want to be treated? So, my final question: 7. Why is it okay for someone to KNOW they have seen angels and heard God, but not okay to hear other voices. We don’t know what happens in the afterlife until we’re there. I’m sure this will strike you as an attack by someone who needs to be saved, but these are legitimate questions that NO ONE has ever answered satisfactorily, so please call upon the name of Jesus and ask him to answer my questions. Sorry for sounding like a smart-ass, but this world is very confusing to me, and after 30 years of living, I can’t get a straight answer.

    • Hi, I agree with a lot of what you’re saying. I often wonder the same things. Maybe you could ask a theologeon or knowledgeable clergyman these questions and get back to us, as they would have spent years studying in this area and am sure would have had questions like this. I’m not sure though why you said you would rather go to hell, as hell is by definition a place of suffering at the hands of demons. I’ll get back to your questions about my other post later. I’ve wondered about the tree of knowledge also. That maybe a knowledge and interest in certain areas such as the occult can be harmful and cause the voices. But that knowledge in oher areas can be ok. Although, there may be people who hear voices, who have never had an interest in any area of occult, who simply accept what the psychiatrist says. But it would be very difficult to find out what they have dabbled in to know for sure. It is interesting though what you said about practicing the ouija board, as this is said to release evil spirits. A lot of people who are called mad talk about the CIA planting voices in their head, indicating an interest, knowledge and belief in the occult though.

      • Sorry Dubya, I didn’t mean to cut in in front of you. I just wanted to make a point that was relevant to this thread. If you’re around, we’d like to hear what you have to say on this matter.

      • No interest in the occults. Just a targeted individual. It is all electronic. No spirits or devils or God. Only secret government personel. No more no less.

        • Well maybe not so much an interest in occult, as a belief or knowledge about it or certain aspects of it, such as in any kind of telepathy, eg. electronic. Usually an interest would lead to knowledge. I don’t know for sure about that though. I’m just speculating. It would nice to find the cause in a hope of stopping the voices. I’m not sure why, but my voices have lessened and quietened a lot in the last few days. I haven’t been taking medication, but I’ve been doing a few other things differently, such as dismissing and ignoring them and not thinking about things such as telepathy. I usually notice that when I’m doing a different activity, like watching a movie, I don’t hear any voices, my mind isn’t on them. When I think of the people who I usually get the voices from, then I usually hear their voice. I’ve also been eating healthier.

    • It seems that God doesn’t want people who do wrong and go against his will (sin) in heaven, so he puts them out or doesn’t let them in. Maybe we don’t know the full story, but if an angel began to question God’s ways, that is breaking the first commandment, so he would have to leave heaven. You can’t have any wrong doers in heaven, or it wouldn’t be heaven – perfect happiness and peace. The devil may have been thrown out of heaven, but not necessarily into a place called hell. Maybe the devil created hell himself. I never heard that babies who weren’t baptised went to hell, well it’s not what I was taught. And you asked why God didn’t come down to be nailed to the cross, well aparently Jesus is God. 3 persons in the one God. If people create or are part of wars, then they are ignorant of Christianity, or not practising all of it, as war is not good and it breaks the commandment, thou shalt not kill. If people were to actually practice the commandments perfectly, there wouldn’t be wars. I think that a lot of the problem is ignorance. Going back to your first question: I guess God gave people free will so they wouldn’t feel controlled and like robots. So even in heaven, he gives them free will, so he allows things in there that might tempt them, like the tree, so maybe you can be put out after you go to heaven, into a higher level of purgatory temporarily, so that people can learn and wont feel they are stuck in heaven against their will. Personally, I don’t think that hell should be permanemt, but maybe thats just the way things are – If people thought that hell wasn’t permanent, then a lot more bad would be done. To me the knowledge of God/Christianity has made the world better than it was in ancient times. It is more civilised and less barbaric. The laws and police forces are modelled on the 10 commandments for example.

  8. Alice in Wonderland,

I think it’s quite ironic that I almost always use aliceinwonderland36 as my screen name. I believe that we really don’t know what causes these things. I know from experience that once you’re labeled “abnormal”, the so-called “normal” people band together to keep you away. People are scared of things they don’t understand. I know there are fakers out there, but I also believe the world is full of things we don’t understand. I don’t know if I believe an interest in the occult actually “causes” the voices, but then again, i don’t know everything. Both my mother and I seem to have something beyond normal intuition, but she is scared by it, so she chooses to avoid it and pretend like it never happened. I think it’s pretty fascinating, but I don’t run from it. I also don’t necessarily go toward it. I think that it makes perfect sense that people who believe in telepathy would hear more voices because other people are likely to dismiss it as something else and definitely wouldn’t admit it to anyone. I’ve had good and bad experiences with the ouija board, but ultimately i’m terrified of it because it told me things before they happened. I think it’s not the ouija board itself, but the vibrations of the people using it. My friend didn’t really get into it, so she kept thinking “supercalifragilisticexpealidocious” and it spelled it out, and i could tell she wasn’t pulling it, but it made me mad. On the other hand, I’ve had some very interesting and pleasurable experiences, but you have to accept it’s true for it to work. I’m interested in what you say about the third eye chakra because I don’t know anything about that. I’ve heard of chakras in yoga, but not how to open the third eye. I’m extremely sensitive to other people and animals suffering, so I don’t want to be able to feel or channel any energy from people because i have bad depression and am labeled enough already. The only time I heard an actual voice in my head was last summer when I walked into my apartment, a scary voice said, “LEAVE!” I knew it came from inside my head, but if a feeling or sense that strong told me to leave, you better believe I left for a couple hours. One more thing on the general topic of paranoia/ craziness. It’s not so far-fetched in today’s society that our every move is being watched and recorded. Recently, I’m not sure if Obama vetoed it, but there was a bill that overwhelmingly passed in the Senate and the House that people can be jailed indefinitely without a trial if suspected of being terrorists. Signs that make u suspect include: missing limbs, having a lot of food stored in your house, etc. I was called paranoid for thinking people were trying to get me fired at work, so I wrote a resignation letter and right as I went to give it to my boss, she sighed in relief because she was just about to fire me if I didn’t interrupt her to give her the letter. I knew it was coming at least a year ahead of time. Finally, I have experienced very strong deja vu and would love to hear people’s thoughts on that.

    • Probably DARPA silent talk program making people hear it. Be careful, the NSA/CIA will ruin your reality.

    • I’ve heard that if you use the ouija board, it’s not the board itself that answers, but that you are letting the spirits know that you want answers, so a spirit posesses you to answer your questions Aliceinwonderland.. Sometimes it may be a good spirit that answers, or sometimes it may be a bad one with evil intent, who may also give you negative voices. Maybe consulting an ouije board or tarot cards yourself for answers opens your 3rd eye to let the voices in. Well that’s what I’ve heard. It is fascinating, but a knowledge of the occult, is also breaking the 1st commandment. This commandment may not seem reasonable, but is probably there to keep the demons away. The 3rd eye comes from Eastern religions such as hinduism, buddhism and taoism and also new age teachings. It’s opening leads to clairvoyance, visions, precognitions (like what you said about the board) and other esp abilities. In hinduism it is said to lead to the eventual destruction of the universe, which would be another reason to avoid developing it. I don’t know why they want to develop it, if that’s what it leads to. The unfortunate thing though is that because certain things are taboo, there are a lot of lies surrounding them, so it leads to greater misunderstanding and confusion. I think part of the confusion is that when the voices are in your head and not heard with your ears from outside, you think they are a product of your mind and not something coming from outside. Well I think that, because as i said, the voices sometimes tell me things I didn’t know, like the time. I think everyone deserves a fair trial and this applies to business too.
This is all a very difficult area to figure out and understand, so i think it’s good to discuss it with people who have had similiar experiences and could maybe try some experiments together.

  9. I have been hearing voices for about 10 years. I also see images. These are in my mind. I don’t hear the voices with my ears, so don’t believe them to be hallucinations. The voices I hear are usually of people I know, so I often wonder if it is really telepathy, coming from an external source, such as another living person, or a spirit in the spirit world, rather than being produced in my own mind or imagination, although some of it may be my imagination. What also makes me think the voices are from another being, is that sometimes they tell me something I didn’t know, such as the time of day. I’ve heard that people who become more spiritual, become more sensitive to other energies around them (external), so i wonder if an interest in the occult, or new age therapies, can cause the voices. I heard of a survey done where people who believed in telepathy, were more likely to experience it, than people who didn’t and had no interest in the occult. I also often wonder if opening the 3rd eye chakra causes you to pick up the voices. I would be interested in hearing other people’s opinions and experiences of what i’ve said, and if you can prove me wrong on any of this, good.

    • I also hear voices. But the thing is, I am aware it is the government doing it. I have never been more unhappy in the ten years that this has been going on. I know that the government doesn’t care about the problems they make me deal with. That is the true reality. People cannot just say they care about something and never show it. That is the deceptive behaviour that NSA/CIA will never acknlowledge. Are we as citizens to be as equally dishonest as the government? They are in denial as typical sociopathic people are. They are not to be looked up to for leadership. I want to live in reality but NSA/CIA just doesn’t allow it. Slavery is for lazy, evil minded people who do not care about truth.

      • Hi, I hear voices too, but I never thought it was the government or CIA. How are you aware that it is from the government?

        • Because it becomes more declassified every year if you follow it closely. When I started this stuff ten years ago, there was very few websites or activist groups. Now there are thousands of people coming forward. It is not hard at all to realize you are government subject. Did you that if you ever go into Freemasonry, they want you to accept surveillence? CIA knows me better than I know myself.

          • Maybe you shouldn’t be following it closely, because the more you think about something, the more it comes into your reality. If you try not to dwell on those things and those people, then hopefully this wont happen to you. I never think it is the CIA. I’ve made a comment on the CIA about this in another post above if you’d like to check that out. I think it may be an ego thing to think the CIA are spying on you. The ego is related to the first commandment.

          • So you don’t hear voices? I wouldn’t say anything if I was ego-centric. Technology is real and I am simply not going to be in denial about it. By the way I hope you are not in denial.

          • If you are focusing on the government, CIA or police a lot, maybe that will cause them to pick up on you by telepathy and watch you as a result. The more you think about them, the more they may watch. So if you forget about them, then they’ll lose interest (if that really is what is happening). I never feel them watching, maybe because I don’t think about them.

          • So you don’t hear intelligent voices that are not your own? I am just being honest about it. Some people do not understand how important this technology is to a modern society. If you like things the way they are, by all means disregard my posts.

          • I hear voices that are not my own and don’t have my personality. They don’t seem very intelligent mostly, although sometimes they help. The voices I hear are nearly always of people I know in my real life who I know aren’t in the CIA. i thought it was more normal telepathy they use than technology. What kind of technology are you talking about? and does that technology really exist?

          • I do hear voices, but they aren’t very intelligent a lot of the time. They are from people I know, who aren’t in the CIA. I think they are put in my head by telepathy, rather than technology. People have been hearing voices for hundreds of years, and you say this technology is relatively new. What kind of technology are you talking about and are you sure it exists?

          • Here is the thing. When this “Silent Talk”, program started up, I heard what I thought was actually be my family and friends knowing things, but it wasn’t. The point is, do you feel your family knowing things about you makes you feel insecure? Or how about absolute strangers you might meet someday knowing what you are thinking. In a grocery line or some public situation and you feel they can hear your thoughts? Some people simply do not want other people to actualy know what the are thinking. Some individuals think it bad for others to know the truth about them, perhaps they are hiding a secret. I think some people shy away from this technology mainly because of personal insecurity. Hypochondriacs and pathalogical liars run from such a program. For some reason, some people would rather DIE than to have others know the truth about them.

          • Moderator, could you please delete my second last post below, as the later one is like a duplicate, but better. The first post disappeared, so I wrote it again, but then reappeared after I posted the second one.

          • Yes, I feel that people I know can go in and listen to my thoughts, mind read me at will. I can’t do this, but think I pick up their thoughts randomly or when they chose to send them to me. I heard that if you practice certain forms of occult such as ouija boards, you are like opening a channel in your mind for people to go in and listen. Drugs etc. may also open the channel. Maybe if you learn to close your 3rd eye, this channel will close. I heard there are techniques to close the 3rd eye, so you wont hear voices, but I’m not sure about that. I spoke to someone who can mind read, and they said that the voices in their head got worse after they learnt to mind read at will, so it’s not a good idea to develop your psychic powers. Well if it’s not your family or friends sending you the voices, then I would think it is spirits or evil spirits in disguise, rather than the CIA. Yes, i don’t like anyone to know what I’m thinking, but I’ve come to not care too much about it, and I don’t think people should care all that much what other people think to die for it. I’m sure they aren’t perfect themselves. But I can see how that could be a big problem for some, who have something to hide, but they should try not to put so much importance into their secrets. it isn’t worth all that. If you put in too much importance into an area of your life, such as career, you’ll get voices in association with that. I hadn’t heard of this program and don’t know of such technology. What does the technology do?

          • This technology replaces the cell phone. It is all electronic using satellites and cell phone towers. Being a voice hearer, I would think you would want to know. Remember this new communication technology replaces cell phones using pre existing cell towers. There is no shielding it. You don’t have to believe in anything I say.

          • Moderator, could you ignore my request to delete a post please, as you may delete the wrong one. If you want clarification on which one exactly to delete, email me :)

          • It couldn’t be CIA technology, because people were hearing voices long before that was invented. (if such technology really exists)

          • It sounds interesting. A few years ago, I actually worked with cell phone technology and using a clocktower to transmit signals, and there was nothing like that going on. I read through all the code and found nothing funny. There was noone else working on it. I also studied AI. Are you sure that it is possible to penetrate the mind like that? because from studying artificial intelligence, I don’t think they are that advanced yet.

          • Moderator, could you please stop deleting my posts and then making them reappear when I’m reposting them? Maybe the moderator is a CIA agent.

          • Ok, I found an article on what you are talking about:
            http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DARPA_Silent_Talk#Synthetic_telepathy
It was interesting, but would you need a device planted inside your head for this to worki? I know I’ve none. The thing is, the voices you head are usually from people you know. For this to work, you would need to capture the voices of these people, and these voices would be different from every person who hears voices, so that would be millions of different voices from different people to capture and use. I don’t think they CIA would have the time for all that. Do you know how they would do this?

          • Maybe they can do this now by remote control without a device planted in your head. I found this at the end of that article:
In 2006 Sony patented a neural interface system allowing radio waves to affect signals in the neural cortex.

          • If this actually works, i wonder if it would only work on people who already have telepathy. I mean, some of the voices I hear are long intelligent sentences, and others are words repeated over and over, like someone is listening to my thoughts and presses the same button of a word they captured the person I know saying. This part could be the machine. So maybe before this thing was invented (a few years ago) maybe people just had normal telepathy only, because people still heard voices before this device.

          • I can’t believe most people have such a hard time accepting it is the government doing telepathy. It is so obvious. “You have an amazing grasp of the obvious” is not a compliment for awareness. In matters of truth, it does push the envelope about government operations and what they are there for. Maintain order is my manifesto.

          • I wonder have they invented a shield that you could put around your house, to stop these kind of radio waves from getting in.

          • It may not necessarily by the CIA, unless your focus was on them a lot. It could be people working with Sony…I know I wrote a letter of complaint to Sony in the past.

          • I wonder if there is any way you could detect if those radio waves were in your room, and maybe see what direction they are coming from and follow that to the guilty party.

          • I don’t think it is that obvious regarding the device, unless you are quite technically knowledgeable and minded, and could envision, how this might be achieved and such a device made. A psychiatrist may not have that training, whereas I just happen to be technology educated. I do think it would be possible to make such a device, based on what is said in that article, if that article is true. I don’t have the radio wave detector with me now, but I got vibes that my suspect had become a moving target, was driving around the area, rather than stationary to make it hard to detect where the waves were coming from, if any such waves exist.

  10. I talk to myself, who doesn’t? but i have a question, of all the people here who have ‘heard voices’ in their heads, who have actually tried listening to what they’re saying? and after hearing said voices, who actually tried to understand them? please, someone, try it before posting anything new. (:

  11. Succint …. I hope. The voices are caused by the multiple personalities that we each contain. Our current self is who we are based on past decisions. The selves that we’ve discarded were still constructed. Some people hear them. Some people feel them.

    Brushing Widely,
    Troy

  12. What the heck. This is the biggest crock I have ever heard! How the hell can it be positive? As someone who has gone through it as a young child, this is nonsense! Totally bogus! It can never be positive!

    • I hear music and snippets of speach. Maybe an orchestral rising crescendo when I’m feeling triumphant, or just a good beat to work to. The bits of convo were scary as a wee one, but once I accepted that it was just me I was fine.
