Breakthrough Discovery in Nutritional Immunology

Dear colleagues:

Just thought I’d share an important discovery at UC Berkeley with you. Scientists have discovered that a compound called Diindolylmethane (DIM) from Brassica vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, kale, cabbage) is a potent activator of the innate immune response system with potent anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-cancer properties through the potentiation of Interferon-Gamma receptors and IFN-G production.

DIM is currently used to treat RRP tumors caused by HPV and is in Phase III clinical trials for Cervical Dysplasia also caused by HPV. Until recently, its mode of action was not clearly understood until scientists at Berkeley discovered its potent immune activating properties.

The compound is currently in Phase I clinical trials for multiple forms of cancer and currently under investigation as a possible therapeutic for AIDS and hepatitis.

What is significant is that DIM is the only natural dietary compound to be used as a therapeutic for RRP tumors and to reach Phase III for a condition as serious as Cervical Dysplasia and HPV (the largest STD in the world) at dietary supplement / food dosages.
