About a couple weeks ago, you might have heard about a study out of the University of Hawaii that found overweight and obese women (BMI>25) had ‘more sex’ than normal-weighted ones. The study was all over the news because it challenged what we would generally believe – after all, ‘skinny’ women are hotter, so they should have more sex.
The study surveyed over 7,000 women aged 15-44 about their sexual habits, and a higher percentage of the larger women reported having had sex. The researchers admitted they were surprised. “These results were unexpected and we don’t really know why this is the case,” said lead researcher Dr Bliss Kaneshiro. The big question remained – why?
Well, perhaps they should have talked to researchers over at University of Alabama about their new study. While looking to see if the weight of obese women might be tied to their overall ability to control impulses, they found an interesting result. Overweight women are simply more impulsive – even in methods completely unrelated to food.
In a study of 95 men and women, the researchers looked at “delay discounting” – a measure of the degree to which an individual is driven by immediate gratification vs. the prospect of larger, but delayed, rewards. The participants were given the choice of receiving varying hypothetical amounts of money immediately or fixed hypothetical amounts of money to be received after delays of two weeks to ten years. The obese women undervalued the delayed rewards at a rate three-to-four times greater than that of normal weight women – meaning they’re a lot more impulsive.
If you bring together the two parts, it seems obvious why overweight and obese women would have more sex. Because of a lack of impulse control, the hefty ladies are more likely to say ‘yes’ to a man’s advances.
That’s not to say that all fat women are sluts – don’t get me wrong. While the University of Hawaii study found that overweight women are more likely to have had sex, they also found that the sexual behavior between the two groups was essentially the same. That is, BMI was not significantly associated with sexual orientation, age at first intercourse, frequency of heterosexual intercourse, and the number of lifetime or current male partners. So one group was no more slutty or prudish than the other. The only difference is that more overweight women had had sex at all – a small variance in the big scheme of sexual behavior.
Small enough that, perhaps, their increased impulsivity could be at fault. Which just might give those University of Hawaii researchers their answer. Of course, they have yet to show if this difference is genetic versus learned – which might open up a whole other can of worms.

Me and my ex stripper wife (she is now a college professor) have had a few heavier (I wouldn’t say fat) girls and they are alot of fun but mostly the wife only goes for 110 to 130 pound 5foot8 strippers (she doesn’t even really like club girls, ie: college girls out skankin’ on the weekend) betweent the ages of 21 (we have standards) and 35. She likes that new soft skin more than anything and you only get that with youth, or an older woman who is obsessed with remaining young.

Apart from the morbidly obese I find larger women to be more attractive and open about sex. Whereas scarecrows tend to be more childish, demanding and quite frankly make me feel like a pedophile by being near them.

Why is skinny in quotes? If you’re going to put a word in quotes there, it should be hotter. That’s your view, wilcoxclynn. Skinny is “hotter” only in the prejudices that predominate in our society. I doubt most people feel that way.
In our society it takes nothing to qualify as fat. The beauty ideal is emaciated, but that’s not what men want. Many of us like big women. That applies both to those who really are fat, and those who are merely categorized as such (i.e., the vast majority, such as the median-sized women presented as “plus-size” in Glamour’s bogus size liberation issue).
Were the subjects in this study Hawaiian? That would make sense as I’ve heard that Hawaiian men are more attracted to heavier women.

I am fat and I love my life, love the world .. make good money.. and get laid whenever I want but choose mostly to be monogamous. And I have found living in Asia around a ton of hot skinny women ..that everyone still prefers big tits and thick hips !

This is an amazing uncovering. Well I also believed that skinny women are more pronged to have sex. I would, however recommend all women to go for toronto lap band which is a great program for becoming thinner and smart.
Well I am extremely happy, my only worries about being overweight is the effect it will have on my organs in another 30 years. I am beautiful, I have many admirers. However I am not built like your average fat girl. No huge hips, huge boobs, huge butt. I actually find a large amount of men like those type of fat girls. Infact I have met a few men who said I could use some extra pounds lol.
But there is one thing I have found to be 100% true over my years of fatness. Guys who make fun of fat girls, especially the ones who feel it necessary to point and laugh and make pig noises and stupid stuff like that….. are only proving just how small their penis really is. It is because they feel insecure. I have 4 friends that used to be my enemies until I called them out on it. Just because us big girls are good at what we do sexually doesn’t mean we want to do it with you.

I think your explanation is at least plausible, but you certainly haven’t exhausted all possible explanations. Doesn’t male/ homosexual female perception of female attractiveness matter to this study? Had you possibly considered that, despite the propaganda shoved down our throats by the woman-hating media and fashion industry, people just regard larger women as more attractive? Or perhaps there’s something else about larger women, other than their body type, that makes them more attractive to men/homosexual women? All I’m saying is that your conclusion is not exactly obvious, ignores a lot of possible alternatives, and to be frank, strikes me as somewhat offensive.
They take what they want and they want what feels good. Food & Sex! It’s a mystery with this study that any man would prefer a skinny toothpick over a thick chick. Hell ask a guy what he wants. Food & Sex! Don’t forget this is a very old saying. Fat people are happy people. Why do ya think Buddha is always smiling. Also not to long ago huge huge women were in style. As a fat Businesswoman when i go on business excursions, i find myself looking out for women of similar proportion. The reason is i found slender businesswomen tend to look down on us because we are overweight. I play a vital role in my organisation and my weight is not an issue. There are plenty of intelligent fat businesswomen out there who are successful and single
I think the real reason is obvious. A LOT OF MEN OUT THERE ARE “CHUBBY CHASERS”. I think the study should’ve also compared the number of “healthy sexual experiences” vs “negative sexual experiences”. For instances, how many of these sexual experiences happened during a relationship and how many were in a nightclub somewhere or met by some guy who just wanted to have a good time? just a thought…
Well, no. Fat women ARE sluttier according to the study. The study merely shows that there is no difference in sexual behavior between the two groups of women who HAVE had sex. That does not mean that the percentage of each group who has had sex is equal. In other words, 99% of the heifers may have had sex while only 1% of the scarecrows had sex, but they had it at the same age and with the same number of partners. To me, that makes the fat girls sluttier on average. Are you with me camera guy?
However, as someone who lives in Hawaii and went to this university, I doubt that you could extrapolate this study to other populations. There is a lot going on in the psychological makeup of many of the local girls that seems to be tied to feelings of inferiority and a tendency to choose men who don’t necessarily make the best long term partners. The fat girls are the worst in this regard.
Since the study was looking at whether the women had sex at all, a thought occurs to me. Many women (myself included) became fat as a coping mechanism for dealing with childhood sexual abuse and/or incest. That makes for an awful lot of obese women who have had sex, doesn’t it?
