This is a project where a furnace oil (a thick diesel-like-fuel) fired boiler was retrofitted so that it could operate off biomass (chopped and dried gliricidia sticks)… because its much (70%) cheaper…
Gliricidia 1-2 meter long sticks are collected and chopped to about 30cm… and they are dried (EnerFab has a processing facility in Embilipitiya, Southern Province, Sri Lanka)… and then transported to Galle, Southern Province, Sri Lanka… where it is converted to a combustible gas called SynGas (also known as Wood Gas and Producer Gas) and supplied to that retrofitted boiler…
* Maximum Thermal Power: 1MW
* Fuel Consumption at Maximum Power: 350 kg/h (4-5 ton/day)
