Beijing Institute of Technology researchers have developed a unique multi-living agent concept that may be used to investigate the CIS under the SRSC environment. The study is reported in Issue 52 (January, 2009) of Sci China Ser F-Inf Sci because of its significant import for the constructing and analyzing the CIS.
The study is consisted of six parts: Part One: Introduction and the MLA; Part Two: Analysis of agent’s livelihood from the functional level; Part Three: The description of living self-organization mechanism (SOM) and the two set model of the living SOM; Part Four: The model of MLA-based CIS and the negotiation and coordination mechanism; Part Five: The living mechanism of MLA modeling based on Swarm; Part Six: The analysis of practical examples based on MLA.
The study found that by analyzing the livelihood of the agents in the system, one can determine whether a system behavior well or not under the SRSC environment. The livelihood of an agent can be induced by a hexahydric relation. It also showed that the classical self-organizational mechanism concept can be generalized to the living self-organizational mechanism by the MLA concept.
“Our research aimed to investigate the livelihood of an agent, the negotiation-coordination model among the MLA, and to discuss their mechanisms,” noted communicational information system scientist Wang Yue, Fellow of the Chinese Academy of Science and Fellow of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and professor of the Electronic Engineering Department at Beijing Institute of Technology. “The living has been used to present the functional behavior state of a complex information system under the SRSC environment in this research, and it is the first paper to emphasize the living mechanisms of the CIS.”
The study involved two examples. One showed how to design the living communication system in local areas that can keep some functions in case of emergency time. For example, during the earthquake time of Wenchuan, Sichuan Province, China.
In the second practical example, Wang and his colleagues analyzed the livelihood of an aerial defense system that against intruders. They found that the defense side can improve its livelihood by adjusting its structure and adding the new living agent.
The main conclusion reported by the investigators is that the MLA concept can be used to investigate the complex information systems; it proposed the basic theories, the system framework, and the key technologies of the MLA complex information system.
