A daring experiment for both the researchers and the patients proves its value. The concept of vaccinating people in developing nations against malaria has been a hard nut to crack as no vaccine was available and, even if it was, deliverability was an equal challenge. Both were solved in one fell swoop.
Researchers inject mosquitos with a vaccine and then allowed the mosquitos to bite the patients. Those bitten by mosquitos infected with the vaccine proved impenetrable to the disease when rebitten by mosquitos not injected with the vaccine. Those who were bitten by malaria-infected mosquitos got sick.
