In an earlier post on Science Matters my colleague, Dennis O’Brien, lamented that the names of two genes linked to smoking addiction – CHRNA5 and CHRNA3 – weren’t catchy enough. “Who’s going to read about features on the CHRNA5/CHRNA3 gene cluster?” he despaired.
Point taken. Not to one-up Dennis or anything, but I’ve found another angle on the whole “smoking is bad for you” thing. Turns out, video games are also victims of second-hand smoke.
That’s right, according to chatter on gaming blogs and the anti-smoking organization, Action on Smoking and Health, Nintendo has traced problems with its popular Wii gaming systems to smoke build up.
