Linguists debate whether all languages are descended from a common ancestor. This can’t be completely true, since many sign languages have been invented out of whole cloth in modern time (Nicaraguan sign is a famous example), as was, to a meaningful extent, Hawaiian Pidgin.
However, students of history know from the ancient Greek historian Herodotus that Phrygian is the first language. According to his writings, an Egyptian king by the name of Psammetichus ordered that two children “of the ordinary sort” be raised in an isolated cabin without exposure to language. At the age of two or so, the children began to speak Phrygian, which was taken as proof that Phrygian, not Egyptian, is the world’s earliest language.
This study is a great example of why experiments need to be replicated before they are taken too seriously.

Yes “hard work” means thravidans and “easy work” means “aryans the first group” that invaded :)
Hi Friends,Recently i went to Delhi and came back.while coming in the train from Delhi some Brahmans had traveled with me.They are very kind and very old. They struggled to speak in Hindi and used English with everyone including the canteen boys. They struggled even to ask for food because they don’t know Hindi. i was surprised to see them struggling to speak Hindi because Hindi is derived from Sanskrit.Hindi has 60% of Sanskrit words but they(Brahmans) not even able to understand what other Hindi people are speaking. This is the case of Sanskrit, people who had studied Sanskrit not even able to understand with their sister language Hindi. But still Tamil Brahmans are saying that Tamil is derived from dead language Sanskrit.it was a pity that Urdu speaking Tamil Muslims can easily understand Hindi but not the Tamil brahmins.
old form of hindi was ofcourse full of sanskrit words..but not modern hindi..it is full of urdu words…old hindi is only used for dramas based on mythological stories. if u believe that hindi would make you all insecure then it wont happen because in south india especially tamilians are not so revengful abt religions. so, dont be panicky…one should learn hindi for growth and being knowledgable is good..we are not under suppression anymore…time has changed a lot…
IC :) Time has changed a lot (doubtful) what about thravidans? I dont think so :)
just ike good brahmans there are good tamizhians too. So, do not humiliate all. The language “tamizh” was humiliated here you know that, it was very difficult to understand that you had complaints with tamizhians too. I dont know really what made you write like that. Time will change.
“hi friends”….who are they all? funny :) very dramatic indeed!!!!!
there are good brahmins too…i have the experience…but they can not tolerate the fact ie. if you say that this world is full of illusion. The good hearted ones would accept but the bad hearted would chase you. Its matter of Survival and domination. Just like you wrote “me the first”.
mr indian i want to clarify that tamizh is one of the oldest language in the world . “TAMIZH” is still spoken and will be but your great sanskrit is dead in terms of speaking NO ONE SPEAKS IT THERE ARE ONLY FEW
THIS POINT ENOUGH TO PROVE THAT TAMIZH IS GREATER THAN YOUR VERY VERY VERY {POOR} sanskrit
when the small group of brahmans are given shelter in india by the major group then the whole universe would come to know about the big heart of dravidans and there should be no fight between people. Life and death are inter-related. What we sow we reap…its about our deeds that matters a lot than languages and colours, creed etc. One should always realise the fact that God is playing as well as watching. Sand is for all… water is for all also. it has the power to swallow everyone no matter what his religion is. nothing helps
tamil is derived from SANSKRIT only…u deserve no respect …understand???
small creation of God you are though u are near to God chanting.
The fact is that “when i realised that i was putting my feet on the path full of thorns and finished almost half way, i decided to continue my travel”. The journey in pursuit of the abode of God gives us pain always. But, the destination always make us proceed, when we touch the destination it makes us smile”. But, i found there is always danger for this destination called TAMIZH. :)
and also for tamizhians for no fault on their part.
mind full of frustration
Doctors are advising me to take only vegetarian food, understood, i dont have energy, let me have boiled country chicken eggs full of protein and come back. I shall go deep into the CORE of tamizh..i have to take rest now..i thought i was DONE. :) Dont chase me…you get that.

Tamil Muslims are identifiable by a common language and religion. Otherwise, they belong to multiple ethnicities such as Dravidian, Aryan, Oriental, Malay, Semitic, Turkish, Arabic, Moorish, et al.. Hence, their complexions range from fair to dark; facial bone structures range from sharp/oval to rounded. This was due to the frequent trading and marriage ties in South East Asia. These races, by the 20th century, began to be listed in official gazettes of different nations as Lebbai, Marakayar, Rowther, Kayalar (in Maharashtra), Sonagar[4] (in Sri Lanka), mamak (a pejorative term addressing tamil muslims)[5] (in Malaysia), Chulia[6] (in Singapore), etc. As a result, there is no uniformity in customs and ceremonies within and between districts and nations on occasions like births, marriages and deaths.
As a mark of modesty Tamil Muslim women usually wear white thuppatti (from Hindi/Urdu duppatta) instead of the black burqas (that are popular among Urdu-speaking Muslims) which is draped over their whole body on top of the saree.
So, business contact with people from all over the world has changed the features of the people of india.
my humble request to Mr.Indian you(Tamil Brahmans) are separating from us by using shri.try to live together.you belong to tamilnadu.you are not from north India.koodi vaznthal kodi nanmai.
hellow,
this archana shakya any lover name rishabh yadav i want to knw about my love and our marrige.
Hello Indian,if your Brahmans is ready to accept Tamil as the oldest language than Sanskrit?you people will never accept.that is why Brahmans are not invited for world Tamil conference.suppose if Brahmans are invited for world Tamil conference surely they will say that Sanskrit is oldest than Tamil and they will praise Sanskrit in front of world Tamil leaders.this will make huge embarrassment for world Tamil leaders.
again you are showing upper casteism by saying Brahmans will never use harsh words.kanchi jeyendra saraswathi is from your caste only.see what he has done to womens.that means Brahmans will not use harsh words but they will do illegal activities.right.
both hindu and non-hindu widows of india are tortured and facing sexual assault in brindavan ashram in uttarpradesh. They are most of them made to live in ashram by their own in-laws in north india. Why people hate the birth of female child and why they dont accept widowhood is because of the foolish customs of aryans in the past. Both men and women want a male child in india. Because they have to work hard to earn money to be given as dowry for bridegrooms.our tamil culture never tortured girls and women in the past, you people only changed everything….and in temples Women as Goddess is worshipped with pomp and gaiety…..in north india most of the people are especially women still illiterate in states like rajasthan, madhyapradesh, bihar and UP……. we have no words to explain now.
yes good obervation, we have travelled here almost for 9 months to prove the facts, thats why they were not invited for the conference. Intelligence played a crucial role in the conference it seems. Haunted memories of the past still in the blood i guess. Yes, they dont use harsh words but silently and slowly injecting poison into our culture, no bloodshed, no pain, no labour….. good and brillliant job indeed :)
mother teresa was opposed by a pandit in bengal when she started her charity misson but the same pandit was treated by mother teresa for his diesease leprosy when his own community neglected him. She used to touch him and applied medicine, why she selected calcutta as her place for charity work? because calcutta was full of povrty and she could not tolerate the sufferings of people and she decided to settle down there. religion does not see partiality…only we humans create all kinds of differences.
even now u follow the same customs and rules made by your ancestors ..mr.indian..u already proved that in your earlier comments against tamilians. even in temples in tamilnadu all the loudspeakers are playing the tamil divine songs only though u chant the mantra inside in sanskrit. before entering temples one should be pure hearted and have complete faith in God, then only u would come to know abt the glorious past of tamil culture and tradition which is still followed by tamil people. when u wud be selfish in tamilnadu abt ur language then try to keep it safely but u should not humiliate the classical nature of tamil and its antiquity. sit and think deeply…. abt what i have written u would be gulity conscious for humiliating tamilians.
Let me put few more points in common….
First of all I am not here to flight which/who is better…I started with a reply to ‘’MISS M’’ & ‘’PERIYAR MAINTHAN’’ regarding the grammatical concept which they use & abt VDO in BBC.This was regarding purely the origin of words….
It en-route to some other things…………….
But listen frnds – the way u reacted / responded may (will) tarnish Ur image…
& finally it my own wish & will to include Shri (or) thiru (or) mr. & don’t interfere it tat…
Yes I am a Brahmin only …………& can u say wat v ruled u over 2000 years….to my knowledge 50-100 yrs b4 Brahmins will avoid seeing/touching (but if u ask the reason I don’t know – I admit here). Brahmins will near use harsh words (like wat u did) or beat or anything else………?
Now it’s totally deviating to other topic’s………..
no tamil authors of ancient period had SACRED THREAD and there are some websites mentioning them all as brahmins. Do you think it is fair?
you are the one who humiliated ethopians too? are u God fearing? you are the one who humilated tamilans and tamil language? do u believe in God? We never humiliate sanskrit…u can check it out. yes..u people never humiliate as u say but indirectly humiliate us so many times by comparing tamil and sanskrit.
Tamil sithhars had been and a true sitthar would preach always selfless service to the humanity and they never preached casteism and cruelty against women. They were out of this world and no one could shake them when they medidate. Those who claim this art of yoga and siddha medicine and siddhars have come from their culture are fearless of the divine power. This would continue to manipulate…a deep study abt this true and disciplined culture of sitthars would put light on the darkness and show who are cheating and why they are cheating. We always welcome and supported good and true people of all cultures whether they are sanskriti spoken people or urdu speaking people…no partiality in tamilnadu..but we are always not given recognition…we are born to struggle…this is the truth….
Can you just tell us why the names of some cities of tamizh nadu hade been changed or the first title “thiru” removed and “shri” added? The cities are “Sriperumputhur”, Srivilliputhur” and Srirankam”…can you just give explantion about why “thiru” was removed in these cities. Do you people want to occupy the whole tamizh nadu and make us all the homeless just like the tamizhians of ILANKAI. Also, understand, just like “KANKAI”, …”‘ILANKAI” (srilanka) has also “KAI” in it, it is just written to show you the tamizhian culture in the whole india once upon a time today sadly it is not, because of invasion. LEMURIA had gone into the ocean already. We tolerate everything and bear the humiliation. Mentally and physically, we had been tortured when you had entered into our land and today you say that we use harsh words. We are the most HURT presently, because we have come to know about the reality of our culture in the sind region. The only question now to GOD is why he had created us all and also you? When you had your space then why you people wanted to murder tamizh? what is her mistake after all? when she would be immersing into the ocean in the future she would be going in there with PAINFUL HEART. She would also CURSE the ALMIGHTY for creating her. Before the ocean engulf her, KANYAKUMARI wanted to tell you something which you had already read.
I dont go deep into grammatical concepts…i always use my natural instinct…i hate to follow grammer but have to because of a need badly needed :) Expressions are important in life than grammer.
Dear All,
Missing you all a for long time.I feel sad that debate is going out of track. Most of contributers have started involving personal biases over debated topic like religion and casteism.
Apart from this ,for the kind attention of Indian wrt Tolkkapiam.Tolkkapiam is not the first Tamizh Grammar work.Besides this, there were so many Grammar works existed in prior to Tolkkapiam which was destroyed by natural and man made calamaties.
Aindiram includes Aram,Porul,Inbam,Veedu and Turavu not the aindiram school of Grammar.
“It is a literary and cultural monument of great importance”
Tolkappiyam is not dependent on Sanskrit sources and a work that demanded not only vast knowledge but also a lot of thinking from its author, according to Alexander Dubyanskiy, veteran Tamil scholar from Moscow State University.
“Many scholars (have) pointed out that Tolkappiyam is dependent on Sanskrit sources. It is said that its author, Tolkappiyanar followed the Aindra School of linguistics. Subrahmanya Sastri, a scholar who studied Tolkappiyam, even stated that some parts of the work were translations of some portions of Panini’s Ashtadhyayi, Yaska’s Nirukta, Rigveda Pratishakya, etc., which according to me is not right,” he said in his paper presented at the World Classical Tamil Conference on Sunday.
“I think it is not correct because at those times the process of interaction of texts was connected not with translating but with rendering and, speaking generally, there was nothing unusual in borrowing or using ideas from other sources.”
The author of Tolkappiyam was a well educated person who used the works available to build a construction of his own and place the same in the mainstream Indian theoretical linguistic thought.
He said that it was known that Tolkappiyanar did not try to conceal his indebtedness to his predecessors and often used – around 150 times – expressions which clearly signified them.
Vast knowledge
“I am sure that Tolkappiyam is a work which demanded not only vast knowledge and a lot of thinking but a considerable creative skill from its composer.”
Dr. Dubyanskiy also said, “Interestingly enough, there are cases when Tolkappiyanar himself shows his independence on the Sanskrit tradition.” He quoted a verse to underscore his point.
“Besides, one should not forget that Tolkappiyanar described not an Indo-Aryan [language], but Tamil, a language of a different family with its own phonetics and grammatical structure and he could not copy the sources blindly.”
In his tribute to Tolkappiyanar, the professor said that though nothing much was known about him, he seemed to be a person of great intellect, deep thought and an open mind.
On Tamil and its classical status, he said any classical language presented itself in a fixed verbal form that was in the form of a certain kind of treatise, a text describing and analysing the structure and specific features of the language or literature, prescribing rules and regulations for them.
Like Greek, Latin and Sanskrit, Tamil too had such texts, he said and added “during more than 2,000 years of its development, Tamil tradition produced a great quantity of such texts. Many of them are very famous like ‘Nannool,’ ‘Yaaparunkalam,’ ‘Agapporul,’ among others.”
“Together with commentaries they made a vast section of literature of a special kind, very important and interesting. And, in the beginning of the theoretical tradition stood Tolkappiyam, a treatise connected with Tamil classical poetry.”
Dr. Dubyanskiy further said that the authority of the text was undeniable. “It is a literary and cultural monument of great importance.”

Here, the word ஐந்திரம் indicates the Aindram School of Sanskrit grammar, which is the first of the eleven sanskrit schools of grammar. All these grammars had preceded Panini’s grammar, and is mentioned by himself in his work Ashtadhyayi.

ainthu is 5 in tamil. so ainthiram is a pure tamil word. when u had separated urself from all the dravidians in the past then why did u people want to have relation with tamilians and tamil? u can not hide the facts that u had and still have appreciation for our culture.
kumari kandam is not a myth. There was a kingdom of pandian already developed and the capital city was madurai (mathurai). We do not have any connection with sanskrit. Tamil grew on its own and suffered a lot by the arrival of aryans and their created sanskrit. the hard works of ancient literary works are not available but we say tolkaapiyam is the oldest now. ancient Tamilian knew about the evolution and he named each one after detailed study. Nothing can match their hard work. They were very very helpful and innocent than todays world. They had to suffer by welcoming aryans.
Hai Indian,Good Citation but it is just a preface given by someone…not a part and parcel of Tholkkapiam..: Aindra school of grammar Tolkāppiyam is claimed to have been modelled on the Sanskrit grammar of the Aindra school.[1] The preface(சிறப்புப்பாயிரம் )of Ilampuranar’s twelfth century commentary of the Tolkappiyam, describes it as aindiram nirainda (‘comprising aindra’).[2]. This annotation was interpreted by Arthur Coke Burnell as alluding to the pre-Paninian Aindra school of Sanskrit grammar mentioned in the Ashtadhyayi. To investigate his hunch, Burnell compared the Tolkappiyam with the non Paninian Katyantra grammar and concluded that the Tolkappiyam indeed exhibited a strong influence of the non Paninian school of grammar. So,donot confuse Tholkkapiam with Aindiram and Naanmarai(4 VEDAS).
Even today you may write a book,I can write a biased preface..for that. So,donot take useless things for debate…I hope ,i made things crystal clear unto u..
Dear (H)Indian,Where r u nw…no facts from net to denigrate Tholkkapiam..? so,dont talk or debate with little knowledge to fool the innocent people especially dravidians…ok…where r ur aindiram and naamarai to wrongly co-relate with tholkkapiam…if v eave as it is..! u people ,even may say ..tholkkapiam is written by brahmin or any aryan…ur sanskrit is never born to die..it is artificially created language to fool and get the jack of the kings …and make easy money…! Tamizh is naturally grown language…its begining dates to begining of the world and end will be the end of this world…
Tamizh is naturally grown language…its begining dates to begining of the world and end will be the end of this world…
WELL SAID!!!! again….i appreicate you thambi
if tolkappiyan is wanting to refining an already existing grammer book then it ….ITSELF proves that there were already tamil text before…..good point….so, telling that tolkaapiyam is the oldest one would be out of the debates and discussions.
Dear abdul thambi, your comment, “Most of contributers have started involving personal biases over debated topic like religion and casteism”…..by writing this, you have forgotten that you have been travelling with us also using another name….it is like you are leaving us in the middle of the river like “kaateri” the ferocious river….your comments are very much hurting. When you have taken a job of reforming the society, it is unfair to put the blame on us..we are hurt.
The pillars of the castle of dreams have been pulled away suddenly, total colapse, heart attack, paralised and bed-ridden, medicines and also tears… but “tamizh” survived :) Thank God, our “mother” was saved. hahahha

The phonix bird always think of emerging away from its own ash to live again. But, it would stop emerging one day…may all the humanbeing of this world live peacefully with happiness. Life is all about happiness. May the Almighty give power to all the humans to understand each others problem. By passing wishes for all i hope to relieve myself away from the sin i had made “unknowingly” here.
Do not ever try to use the current tension and incite the people. Always truth would be truth forever..indian……You always incite people to gain a lot. That wont give you good results. Always be straightforward and good hearted about accepting truth. No tamilian is here inciting people…all of them are real facts happened, still people are suffering, this is best evidance for you. First of all, sanskrit is not a spoken language today and it remain merely a spiritless or dead language and only used for chanting hymns. ofcourse as you say “avataaram” is not ours because we do not make reincarnation but only believe in rebirth. You have created so many avataars to mint money and keep the people brainless forever. The surprising factor here is you minortiy people are dominating the majority people….God is full of surprise too and at the same time confused too about your tricks so cunning. He knowingly created you all and is continuously watching you all. we tamilians always forgive and forget. we only talk and write but dont do anything. we dont know how to create conspiracies.
the very fact of welcoming all the people especially from kerala have made tamilians suffer too, they use our language tamil and mint money and forget us soon after they cross the tamilnadu border and some who reside in tamilnadu never talk well of tamil language. Tamilians have been tolerating all eventhough they talk ill of us. It seems they are very very soft hearted at the same time emotional too. Aryans exploit this character of tamilians very well.
vandavarai vaazha vaithu vittu saahum manitharkal thamilarkal
Sanskrit was knowingly made to be mixed with kannada, telugu and malayalam by the aryans against tamilians to create tension among people. Casteism was created to make the dravidians fight with each other, infact all are same with equal talent, but since they are divided by high caste and low caste, both the non-brahmins are fighting with each other. very well planned customs to end them all. The aryans do not want generally the whole dravidians of india to live.
most of the playback singers in tamilnadu are brahmins and malayalis and they say importance was not given to them. not only they are dominating the music field but also dance field. The judges are always brahmins, how do they say that there is no importance for them. Tamilnadu has been so far encouraging all people and real talent of tamilians are emerging slowly these days. We have given a lot of place for them in tamilnadu even though they divided the people. In reality, the numbers of brahmins are very low compared to the other 3 groups in india. The 4 groups are for the whole india not only for tamilnadu. How much people suffered becos of these groups those who suffered and God only knows. No other country would tolerate them like indians tolerated. Indians are generally very very peace loving people and in north india if tension is active then its because of the crooked intention of the aryans a small group only and those who believe them, sadly they are non-brahmins with selfish motives. Everyone has a rite to choose their way of life and religion. It depend upon their psychology and circumstances. Ultimately all are in need of peaceful life whatever religion they belong to. Life is very very short…. and people should not fight with other in the name of religion and caste. So called brahmins receive and touch the coins of backward class people and breath the same air left by christians and muslims too.
Dai indian,i think you are a north Indian or Brahman living in Tamilnadu.maybe 99% you will be Brahman because of your support to Brahmans.you people had ruled us for over 2000 years.that is enough now.we(Dalits) are emerging now.we will get upper hand than you in Twenty to Thirty years.so stop arguing.
If God has given much pain to the heart of the people who are neglected in the society in the name of caste, then why do people chase Gods and religions? Is God playing games with people? but Y???
Even if they are neglected they always want to go “IN TO” the temple. Psychological attack in the past, NO WAY!!!!!
“katavul varam koduthaalum poosaari varam kodukkamaataan”
God always allow but the one who stands in the entrance never
Pls note tat wen tamil conference was held
Shri. abdul kalaam was not invited & brahmins who contributed for tamil language has not been given any thanks/respect………
so wat u call this activity as ………
first don’t like shri before name u dirty Indian.write thiru Abdul kalam or Mr.Abdul kalam.
first don’t write shri before name you dirty Indian.write thiru Abdul kalam or Mr.Abdul kalam.
loosu payale indian
if there is no “thiru” how can be there “shri”…just add “sh”…. man. very very simple.
“loosu payale” is purely madurai style :)
“kirukku payale” is purely tirunelveli style :)
Former president Mr. Abdul Kalaam is a tamilian belong to the ramanathapuram district. I think he is from the fishermen community and he struggled hard to get education and how he became the president of india is a wonderful thing. Recently, he was interviewed for a tamil channel by Mr. solomon paapaiyya a christian scholar.
All are equally talented infact much more talented than brahmins. You people know how to chant mantras and how to conduct spiritual meetings gathering all innocent and emotional people of this world as if you are having complete faith in god. The world does not know that you people are cheating them only to mint money. This is the same india where once Rajneesh a fradulent maharishi was minting money like anything and had numbers of rolls royce cars for teaching how to attain “nirvaana” (nakedness) and be happy. Is this what india before? not at all. He had and i dunno still have branches all over this world. In his headquarter in pune (maharashtra) emotionally love and peace seeking people used to gather and how much vulgarity was taught to them those who suffered only know…these people always create illusion to cheat the people by making them dwell in the world of drugs…. he was the one responsible for nithyananda, pirgananda, geetananda, joplananda, koplananda and many more anandaas and “Amma bhagawaans” in india whose sole aim is to cheat the innocent girls and women who are depressed in life. We know very well about Ashram culture of todays india.
Do not ever try to put the blame on other people belong to various religions. we indians need a lot of reformation and revolution in the society.
they created a separate “tag” for them and this very tag is against them today. Why….why such hatredness for people who are non-hindus?… God is actually testing all to know their will power…he is actually not torturing the good people but want to know how much pain they experience and how much they tolerate. Only good people are tested here…not bad people, they are always neglected. Good people has to reach the abode of god sooner than bad people and sometimes when the bad people cross their limit the good people has to go with bad people too…their final destination. Sacrifices are made by good people sometimes for the sake of good atmosphere. God only makes all these things on earth.
Hi Ramesh the Brahman(Priest Caste), It is very funny that Brahmans like you once chanted mantra for over 2500 years are now cleaning Toilets in Bihar and Uttar pradesh.so shut up and don’t argue like this.Untouchables like us are growing at a fast pace but people like you who are still keeping distance and seeing others as untouchables are going lower and lower place. The above information is not my imagination.i had read this report last year from a leading English daily which showed Brahmans cleaning toilets with photos.
In the original moral story, the man who was crying before God was a wealthy person, why did i write a poor man?…because one who thinks that he is the poor man should know the reality that there are so many people poorer than him. When the poor man who cried could get three time meal then he can help those poorer people who can not get afford one time meal. At the end of the story, i want to say that if the man who cried can help the poorer people and he with them can earn money if he believe in “hard work”.
By selling newspapers, candles, aroma sticks, vegetables etc. the poor people can earn and live a happy life full of satisfaction and be happier than before.
The message is for “naxalites, maoists and all who think that violence would only open the gate for them all for solutions. “Easy money” wont stay…but hard earned money would stay and they should be knowledgeble how to protect their money in this treacherous world also today. mind this!
I think suddenly you have forgotten the way to destination Tamizh, you geeta alias m…..what the HELL? chemicals in the brain are diverting :) :) :)
“Keerth”anai in tamizh is hymn, so Geetha is strong toned word…i realise now. :)
