ScienceBlog.com has no paywalls, no sponsored content, and no agenda beyond getting the science right. Every story here is written to inform, not to impress an advertiser or push a point of view.
Good science journalism takes time — reading the papers, checking the claims, finding researchers who can put findings in context. We do that work because we think it matters.

Those of us with kids (or who generally care about the health of children) may be interested to know that there is actually a company based in California that was started by biomedical engineers, nutritionists and dieticians to design high quality food programs for schools – they do this by installing “healthy” vending machines and educating students. Their website is http://www.fitfuel.com – they also provide these Health Stations to offices, businesses, and other venues, but its nice to know that someone is actually tackling the problem of making nutrition more convenient. There are plenty of great organic and natural food companies out there, but distribution of those products to the right people has always been a problem. Fit Fuel seems to be making health food more accessible.
